My Brightest Diamond - Inside A Boy (LVE at Laundro Matinee acoustic session).flv
Shara Worden is a very petit woman, and I have seen her perform as My Brightest Diamond on stages both large and small. No matter the size of the stage or the room, when she wants to, she can become larger than them all. Shara is impossibly engaging. Whether with humor or drama or simply the shear magnitude of her voice, she will comand your attention and you won't want to look away or risk a word at the peril of missing something incredible. During this session, she performed three songs from her 2008 release A Thousand Shark's Teeth and the album's iTunes bonus track The Gentlest Gentleman. The album's tracks were originally concieved to be performed with a string quartet, so seeing them performed in this manner was a treat indeed. Hearing the songs performed with such simplicity was still truly a visceral experience. Shara is a talented songwriter with a professionally trained, operatic voice. Her arrangements and songs are playful at times, always touching and innovative, plus she'll seemingly give just about any instrument a try. You feel her bold and daring nature at all times. Despite her diminuative physical stature, she could be on her way to becoming the biggest female presence in indie rock today.

Fred Perry - History
Frederick John Perry (18 May 1909 -- 2 February 1995) born in Stockport, Cheshire, was an English tennis and table tennis player and three-time Wimbledon champion. He was the World No. 1 player for five years, four of them consecutive, 1934 to 1938, the first three years as an amateur. Also when not on the courts, he played a lot of golf in the Cheshire area, but was better known for his tennis skills. As an eight-time Slam winner, Perry was the last British male player to win any of tennis's Grand Slam events, and the first of only seven men (and the first player, male or female) to win all 4 Grand Slam events.

There, Daniel Freeland spoke about why Dr. Martens has enjoyed such a successful run in the last half century and its most enduring traits.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero (Live at Camden Crawl Sessions 2009)
Taking to the stage under a giant watchful eyeball, a kaftan clad Karen O and her boys in black were met with a hail of screams. Gold Lion proved an early highpoint, before Karen slipped out of what looked like a giant patterned toga to reveal a PVC mini dress as the band crashed into Heads Will Roll. New track Skeletons held the crowd spellbound, before they were hit with a double whammy as everyone's favorite YYY track Maps led straight into a storming rendition of current single Zero. With the synth drenched tracks from new album It's Blitz holding their own surprisingly well in a live setting, the band managed to maintain their relentless energy right the way through a fantastic set.

The Jezabels - Mace Spray (LIVE concert on Saturday April 2nd, 2011).mov
Triple J's One Night Stand concert series was about bringing the big live music experience to young people in regional areas. In this, its 8th year, the One Night Stand went to the South Australian seaside town of Tumby Bay and taking some of the most exciting bands in Australia with it: Birds of Tokyo, Art Vs Science and The Jezabels. The Jezabels duel vocalists Hayley Mary and Heather Shannon sung Mace Spray in perfect harmony, with the four-piece from Sydney performing a really tight and complete show. I do not own any of this video, belong to their respectfull owners. I do not earn any money with this video.

Sandra Nasic Guano Apes Interview (in german).mp4
I kind of like to be my own person. Y'know, voice-wise everyone is so different and you can't really imitate anybody or everybody - it would be stupid really (laughs). I have a lot of people who I admire and, yeah, most of them would be male but when I was younger I listened to a German band called Guano Apes who had a female singer and they were awesome. Her name is Sandra Nasic and she has an awesome, powerful voice, knows what to do with it and also, at the same time, knows when to draw it back and do some nice harmonies and I really admired that.
