CSS Tutorial For Beginners 27 - Font Size

08:00
Hey my good friends, in this CSS tutorial for beginners we're going to dive head-first into the font-size property. The font-size property in CSS, believe it or not, controls how large the font displays in a browser. We can control font size either via absolute or relative measurements, and we'll cover both types in this video. Absolute font sizes are immutable (unless overridden later in the CSS), whereas relative font sizes are determined largely by the base font size they inherit. For my video on CSS inheritance, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMpaebQ3n6A&index=11&list=PL4cUxeGkcC9gQeDH6xYhmO-db2mhoTSrT Anyway, peace out, keep coding & have fun :). CSS Tutorial For Beginners 30 - Font Weight

08:15
Howdy ninjas, in this CSS beginners tutorial we'll take an in-depth look into the font weight property. Font weight in CSS simply means how bold or how light the font displays in a browser. Be aware that not all fonts come with light and bold variations, so the different font weights available in CSS may not work in all cases. One font which has these extra two weights in Windows 8.1 is called Yu Gothic, which I'll be using in this video. Anyway, peace out, have fun and keep on coding :). CSS урок 10. Курсивный шрифт

07:08

WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire website

02:57
WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire site Full article: http://imstartpage.com/change-font-wordpress-font-type-size-color Find or convert hex colors: http://imstartpage.com/color-code-conversion-tool-rgb-hex-cmyk Follow me on other media: ►Website: http://www.guidoshowtos.com ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/guidoshowtos ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/guidoshowtos ►Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Guidoshowtos Full instructions: The method I'm going to show, will change the default font on your entire website. The default font on your site is specified by a file called a 'stylesheet'. The stylesheet is part of your current WordPress theme. So; to change your font, you'll have to edit your stylesheet. To find out exactly what to edit, you can use a feature in Google Chrome; right-click the font you want to change, and then click 'inspect element'. On the right side of the menu, you'll see exactly what parts of the stylesheet are being used to make your site look the way it looks. Here, scroll down until you find something that says 'font'. OK, this is the part that specifies what fonts are being used on your site. You can have a look at the entire stylesheet by clicking this link. To change the font in WordPress, we need to find this part of the stylesheet in the back-end of WordPress. Because your stylesheet contains hundreds of lines of code, an easy way to find it is to use Google Chrome's search feature. So, I'm going to copy this part of the code, and add it in the search bar later. To edit your stylesheet, go to your dashboard, then click 'Appearance', and then 'Editor'. By default, it'll open the stylesheet, so that's style.css. Now press Ctrl+F to bring up the search bar, a and paste the text you copied earlier. This will bring you to the exact code you need to edit. For 'Font size', change the number to make your font smaller or larger. To change the font type, edit the name of the font, for 'font-family'. The first one in the line is the one that's going to be used. For 'color', enter the color you want to use. These are specified in the hexadecimal format (hex). When you're done making changes, scroll down and click 'Update file'. And that's it! Go back to your site, and refresh the page to see the changes take effect. And it works; your site is now using a larger font, another font type, and another font color. --- Dutch article: http://websiteopzetten.com/lettertype-font-veranderen-wordpress-type-grootte-kleur/ Also read: http://websiteopzetten.com/webhosting/

CSS - Upgrading HTML Tags with Style: Creating a Website Made Easy

20:00
Lesson on Upgrading HTML Tags to CSS Style from Udemy online course: Creating a Website Made Easy Full course description and 25% discount coupon: http://tharsishighlands.com/online-courses/creating-a-website-made-easy/ Transcript: In this lesson, we will take many of the basic HTML tags and use them as CSS element selectors to upgrade their style. In CSS, the HTML tags are called "elements." BODY First, we start with the [body] tag element (YouTube does not allow angle brackets in description). When you first set up your main CSS file, you typically want to establish the basics for your entire page. These can include, • background-color • background-image • default font-size, color and font-family All of these can be handled in the body element. For example, body { background-color: linen; background-image: url("pix/tree.jpg"); font-family: Vera, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; color: #24425C; } SELECTORS We've already seen a little about CSS syntax. For example, h1 { color: blue; } Each CSS style starts with a selector and is followed by one or more declarations within open and close braces — each declaration being a property-value pair: { property: value } Element selectors select all HTML tags of the same name. For instance, for the [p] tag, p { text-align: center; color: red; } [p]All paragraphs with only the p tag are centered and red. This is a demonstration of how the element selector works.[/p] The ID selector uses the ID attribute of an HTML element to select that specific element. ID is a unique identifier. On any one page, there can be only one of that ID. Also, the ID name cannot start with a numeral. For example, #first_heading { color: red; }
This is the First Heading on the Page
The class selector selects all elements with a specific class attribute. .quote { border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; border-color: #880000; padding: 5px; font-size: 18px; font-style: italic; } Here, we see a class called "quote" which uses larger type, italics and a dark red border. Next, is the HTML which uses that class. [p class="quote"]"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."[/p] A class can be restricted to only one element type. For example, p.first { text-indent: 0px; } This can be helpful if all other paragraphs are given an indent. The first paragraph after a heading can be made flush left. We can also use more than one class at a time. For example, [p class="first quote"]"Houston, we have a problem..."[/p] We've already seen how selectors which share property values can be grouped. h1, h2, h3 { color: steelblue; } In the earlier lesson on the Head section, we learned how to link to an external style sheet — a file with sets of selectors and declarations. For internal CSS, you have the same selector-declaration combinations, but set within open and close [style] tags. [head] [style] body { background-color: darkslateblue; } [/style] [/head] And for inline CSS, you have the same selector-declaration combinations within a style attribute. [p style="text-indent: 50px; color: steelblue;"]This is important text.[/p] Multiple Styles Cascade into One CSS statements have a sequence of priority. The lowest priority of style is the browser defaults. Next are the external and internal style sheets in the head section. Sequence matters, so if you link to your external style sheet after the internal style declarations, the external CSS takes priority over the internal. Finally, the inline style declarations take the highest priority. For all style information that uses the same selectors, the highest priority replaces the lower priorities. For example, External: p { color: blue; text-indent: 30px; } Internal: p { color: green; } Inline: p { color: red; } The final style is: p { color: red; text-indent: 30px; } Background: The following properties control the background of HTML elements. • background-color • background-image • background-repeat • background-attachment • background-position Example: body { background-color: blue; } As we've already learned, colors can be specified, • As Hex — like "#00ffff" • As RGB — like "rgb(0,255,255)" • By name — like "aqua" We will learn more about colors and the new CSS3 color specification in a later lesson. Background Image: The default behavior of a background image is to repeat the image both vertically and horizontally in order to fill the entire background of the element with the selected picture. body { background-image: url("pix/sandbaked.gif"); } [...] In the next lesson, we talk about fonts, tables and links. Lesson on Fonts (typefaces): Creating a Website Made Easy

08:23
Fonts in HTML: Creating a Website Made Easy This is a tutorial on fonts or typefaces in HTML for a Udemy course on HTML5 and CSS3. Full Course Description and 25% Discount Coupon: http://tharsishighlands.com/online-courses/creating-a-website-made-easy/ Transcript: Fonts, also called typefaces, are the families of shapes which make up a specific style of lettering. In this lesson, we will be learning all about fonts and how to use them in HTML. Also, we will be covering a few of the hundreds of special symbols that are available to you. Though the (angle brackets not allowed in YouTube description) tag is not supported in HTML5—the latest HTML specification—there are still plenty of websites and browsers which continue to support this tag. What you learn hear about fonts will help you understand the upcoming lessons in CSS. The basics of typefaces do not change. The syntax will change slightly. We learned in the last lesson about BOLD and ITALIC. These are forms of emphasis which can be applied to any typeface family. For instance, here are examples of Arial regular, italic, bold and bold italic. And here are examples of Times New Roman regular, italic, bold and bold italic. The baseline of a line of type is what the flat-bottomed capital letters would sit on. Some lowercase letters—g, j, p, q, y—have parts that descend below the baseline. These are called descenders. Some lowercase letters have parts which extend up above the shortest letters—b, d, f, h, k, l, t. These are called ascenders. Between the ascenders and descenders is called the "x-height" of the font. Some fonts have relatively large x-heights compared to the capitals and are thus a little easier to read. Palatino Linotype Others may have small x-heights compared to the capitals, making them a little more difficult to read. Papyrus Most typefaces come in one or another style called serif or sans-serif. Sans merely means "without," as if the serifs have been sanded off. Other typefaces are called "novelty" faces, because they are used more for display type in order to create a certain mood or feeling. Serifs Times New Roman, Garamond, Palatino Linotype Sans-Serifs Arial, Futura, Verdana Novelty Monotype Corsiva, Pepita, Papyrus, Vivaldi Not all computers have the typefaces, Arial or Times New Roman. Typically, the fonts used in displaying a web page come from the client or user computer, not from the web hosting server. Because of this, you have little control over the actual typeface used. What you can control are to suggest a hierarchy of choices, ending with either "serif" or "sans-serif." The attributes for the tag are, • color • face • size We will be going over the use of color in the next lesson. We will use a little color here, though. Size is a number from 1 to 7. Browser default is 3. An example of font tag use, This is sample text. If a font name contains a space, it needs to be placed in quotes. Since the font names are already in doublequotes, you then need to enclose the two-part font name in single quotes. This is a serif face. Special Symbols We have already encountered two special symbols in earlier lessons. One of these is the non-breaking space. Though it is not itself visible, it does create a visible effect by keeping two words together. We also saw the copyright symbol. The following is a very short sample of a very long list of available symbols used for punctuation, currency, letter diacritics and much more. Punctuation – – – — — — ¡ ¡ ¡ ¿ ¿ ¿ " " " Special Symbols ¢ ¢ ¢ © © © ÷ ÷ ÷ € € € ® ® ® ™ ™ ™ ° ° ° Diacritics é é é ñ ñ ñ Now, get ready for your Action Item. [not included here] The next lesson will go in depth into the subject of color. CSS Tutorial For Beginners 47 - Color

06:29
Now, my friends, let there be COLOUR (or color, depending on when you're from ;) ). In this CCS tutorial we'll take a look at how we can use color for properties such as the background & text color. Color can be used in either Hex or rgb format. Hex codes are made up of 6 numbers &/or letters, and always begin with a # sign 0 #00000. rgb format is made up of 3 numbers (each ranging from 0 to 255) and start with 'rgb' - rgb(0,0,0). You can also use hsl format (hue, saturation and luminosity), which people from a design background will probably know all about. In CSS, this looks something like hsl(60, 70%, 40%). jquery animate function

12:26
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/05/jquery-animate-function.html jQuery animate function let's us animate CSS properties. The following example animates the div element, while changing the font-size property of the div element from its initial size to 50 pixels over a period of 2000 milli-seconds (2 seconds). <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#myButton').click(function () { $('#myDiv').animate({ 'font-size': '50' }, 2000); }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <input type="button" id="myButton" value="Animate" /> <br /><br /> <div id="myDiv"> jQuery animate function </div> </body> </html> Syntax of jquery animate function .animate( properties [, duration ] [, easing ] [, complete ] ) Animate function has 4 parameters. Only the first parameter (properties) is the required parameter. Rest 3 are optional. properties - An object of CSS properties and values duration - The duration for animation in milliseconds. Default is 400. easing - Easing function to use for the transition. Default is swing. You could also use linear. complete - A function to call once the animation is complete What is jQuery easing Easing is a technique where the speed and/or direction of animation are changed while the animation is in progress. Easing can make the animation start off slow and gradually speed up, start up fast and gradually slow down, and a whole host of other effects. The difference between linear and swing easing is very subtle. The following page shows all the easings provided by jQuery UI https://jqueryui.com/easing The following example increases the height and width of the image to 400 pixels on mouseover. On mouseout the height and width are reduced to 100 pixels. <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#myImage').on({ mouseover: function () { $(this).animate({ 'height': 400, 'width': 400, }, 3000); }, mouseout: function () { $(this).animate({ 'height': 100, 'width': 100, }, 3000); } }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <img id="myImage" height="100" width="100" src="/Images/Tulips.jpg" /> </body> </html> In the following example, several calls to animate() method are chained together. By default these calls are placed into a queue to be executed one after the other in series rather than executing all of them simultaneously in parallel. <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#myImage').click(function () { $(this) .animate({ 'left': '300' }) .animate({ 'top': '200' }) .animate({ 'left': '10' }) .animate({ 'top': '10' }); }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <img id="myImage" height="100" width="100" style="position:absolute" src="/Images/Tulips.jpg" /> </body> </html> Please note: By default, all HTML elements have a static position, and cannot be moved. To modify the position , set the CSS position property of the element to fixed, absolute or relative.

Well, my friends, it is made up of several other background properties, such as background-position, background-image, background-color, etc - you get the picture. So in this CSS tutorial I'm gonna teach you about my favourite ones. Not all of them mind you, cause I don't have that much time available ;). I know, I know, I said that this CSS tutorial was going to be about gradients.
