Mad Men With iPads

01:55
Advertising is a tough business. It can kill you. But, when you have an iPad AND the right "bright ideas" inspiration, your career can flourish. This 2-minute parody is from Bright Books, the first mover in eBooks as "creative compilations." This film was edited from existing content from "The World Gone Mad," a 1933 gangster movie. The challenge is to edit a short piece from the original, while creating a fun promo for creative people about using the iPad with ebooks from Bright Books.

Christina Hendricks, Kiernan Shipka celebrate new ‘Mad Men’ books from showrunner Matthew Weiner

05:11
(16 Mar 2017) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: AP CLIENTS ONLY ASSOCIATED PRESS Beverly Hills, Calif., 23 Feb. 2017 1. Wide exterior of book store 2. Close exterior of book store 3. Wide of Christina Hendricks walking by 4. Wide of Kiernan Shipka posing for photos 5. Wide of Jessica Pare hugging Matthew Weiner 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Weiner, writer/producer/director: "So at a certain point you're like, 'We're not gonna have a frame of every (shot from the series)' … You might as well just watch the show again. But what would satisfy this sort of a static elements, the fetishistic elements of the show and also tell the story of the show? And for me, I look at it, I know it's 92 hours of the show. With the companion, with the behind-the-scenes thing, you can really see how many people were involved, which is hundreds. You know, I'm the person who got interviewed most of the time, myself and Jon Hamm. But just hundreds of people involved. All of the personal aspects to it and then, at the same time, there is still this other thing, which is the sort of dreamlike quality of seeing the show slowed down to the frames that were picked. That have not only the cinematography, make up, you know hair, costumes, it's all of that stuff is sort of, all the texture is there, but it's frozen." ASSOCIATED PRESS - FILE Los Angeles, 21 March 2014 7. Actor Jon Hamm poses for photographers 8. Actress Christina Hendricks poses for photographers and is joined by "Mad Men" creator and writer Matthew Weiner ASSOCIATED PRESS Beverly Hills, Calif., 23 Feb. 2017 9. Close of books 10. Wide of stacks of books 11. Wide of Matthew Weiner signing books 12. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Weiner, writer/producer/director: "There is also, though, if you are a fan, there is so much in the second volume (like) behind the scenes stuff that is not anywhere else. It's just a very comprehensive ... there are photos. There are notes. There are notes that I found when I was moving out of my office. Believe it or not, that was one of the last additions was I found these notes from 1992 before I even wrote the movie that eventually became the pilot, where I'm talking about how badly my career is going and about my relationship with my wife and I don't want to disappoint her. And it's very it's kind of pulling your pants down in public, which is why Benedict wanted it." 13. Wide books on display 14. Wide of Matthew Weiner greeting fan 15. Close of Matthew Weiner signing a book 16. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Weiner, writer/producer/director - on the fiction novel he is writing: "It's been an emotional thing and writing the novel was and I hope to write more of them. And I hope to write more fiction and, of course, still work in TV and film. But it was a wonderful when you get to a point ... I finished the show a lot earlier than people know, you know what I mean? I finished writing a full year before the last episode aired. And it's not like postproduction didn't take six months, but I spent a long time not writing. The longest I ever have in my life since I started. And you're a writer. You don't know if you're going to write again. So there was something about being alone with this and working it out and just saying, 'I have a story. Let me see what it' … I thought it was going to be a short story and then it just ballooned into a kind of amazing experience. But also like it was transformative. It helped me move to the next part of my life I hope, creative life." Reporter: "I can't wait to read that and I can't wait to see what you're doing for Amazon." Reporter: "So you're going to try (to top 'Mad Men')?" Matthew Weiner: "I'm always going to try." 17. Close of flipping through pages of the book 18. Liberty in Books: Madmen, Intellectuals, and Academic Scribblers | Wayne Leighton and Edward Lopez

In this webinar, Wayne Leighton and Edward Lopez talk about their book, "Liberty in Books: Madmen, Intellectuals, and Academic Scribblers". They argue that a crisis is neither necessary nor sufficient for meaningful political reform. Ideas have consequences only when the right conditions of time and place present themselves, and only when certain individuals -- we call them political entrepreneurs -- seize the opportunity.

Audio Interview with the Authors of The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook

13:13
Judy Gelman and Peter Zheutlin are the co-authors of the Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook: Inside the Kitchens, Bars, and Restaurants of Mad Men. When I received the book as a Christmas gift, I was surprised at how thorough and accurate the authors' research of the show, and early '60s drinking and dining in general was. If you're planning a Mad Men-themed party, or simply want to make the same kind of Old Fashioned that Don drinks, Roger's favorite Oysters Rockefeller recipe, or heck, Pat Nixon's Date Nut Bread, this is your book. Among the topics we discussed are: * While aesthetics in general may have arguably gone downhill since the swank suit and skinny ties of Mad Men, food has actually gotten much more varied. How basic were the dining and drinking choices in Don Draper's days? The answer may surprise you. * How did the authors compile a list of all of the food and drink shown on the show? * How cooperative were the restaurants that are still around, and mentioned in the show in working with the authors? * Have they met any of the cast members after writing the book?

This is another in my "Suitably Dressed" series of men's vintage fashion mini books.(6.5 by 8 inches) I named this one "MATERIAL MEN" as I made it with the idea in mind that it would tell the story of some 1940s fabric buyers traveling to purchase menswear inventory for their stores. I have been told my other mini book " MAN OF THE WORLD" looks very "Mad Men" like the television series. Several of you "Mad Men" fans have put that mini book in your Etsy shop owner Treasury! "Mad Men" Creator To Publish Novel

The creator of the AMC hit 'Mad Men' will publish a novel in 2017. Little, Brown and Company have announced that Matthew Weiner has written a book for them called "Heather, The Totally", “dark fable set in contemporary Manhattan … about three people from two worlds who are on a collision course in pursuit of a beautiful child.” Weiner said he is excited to begin his writing life with a novel. “As someone to whom literature has always been essential, the only thing better than the experience of writing ‘Heather, the Totality’ is having it published by Little, Brown and Company. “Heather, the Totality” is looking to be published sometime in the fall of 2017. http://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/the-wrap/article/Mad-Men-Creator-Matthew-Weiner-to-Publish-9222591.php http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com
