Difference Between Inline and Block Elements CSS

05:52
Block vs inline explained. Why not both? When to use it, how to transform one in another and much more in this tutorial. Follow the wisdom of Tech Tzu: https://twitter.com/Tech_Tzu https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013382105892&fref=ts Project Resources: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ydkkkcar8z6685c/Inline_vs_Block_elements_-_by_Tech_Tzu.zip Tools: Brackets, FREE code editor http://brackets.io/ Emmet, super speed coding addon http://emmet.io/ Beautify, turning your ugly code into beautiful script https://github.com/brackets-beautify/brackets-beautify Transcription: Okay let's understand what is the difference between inline and block elements, it's very important to understand the difference so we can easily manipulate your HTML file and CSS files. And your website layout in general. Okay. Inline elements are basically elements that flow, that flows one after each other, for example, add one p tag and add some text inside, as you can see we can add our span, which is an in-line element and says this is span and you can see that our text is inside the text it this text wrap its around, so nothing special, you just add some in-line elements. For example, let's add the big is this is an inline element and say this is big text, and that's it. Inline elements are elements that are inside the text and the text flows around them. Okay, let's move to block elements. Block elements are, for example, our div is a block element and I will explain on this example. Let's add to our div some styling, some styling, I prepare some styles over here in the comment just cut it inside add some width to be 100 pixels, and the height also, and background color to be white. Just to add hex code... and now we can see our div element. For example, if you add, we can add in the span elements, we can add another span element, for example, this is a big text big, we just copy and paste it and it will be in a line, but if we add another div elements, just copy this one here, it will go in another line. Just add some margin so we can better see margin to be up 20 pixels. Okay, so we can see our, our div element so let's add another div element. okay, there's another div element. As you can see the block elements are one below another and our in-line elements are next to each other. But, we have tricks, we can just mash up some these things, and just let's say that are div elements, which are naturally block elements, let's say display, display inline, so they act like inline elements. And what happened? As you can see something is wrong. And that's because inline elements don't support height and width of the elements. Just check this out: if we add to our big, just say it's add to our big element, let's add height for example 100 pixels nothing happens. Width also 100 pixels nothing happens. Because inline elements don't support width and height, but block elements do, so we just need to display these like inline-block. As you can see now our elements are acting just like in-line elements, just like this one, and that but there block elements. What will happen if we add to our in-line elements display to be displayed like a block? They will just fall down ok? I will just add background color so we can see better. And as you can see we changed to block height in the width now have a purpose and we had these white background block but if we add inline-block they will flow next to each other the flow next to each other. So the main difference between the div and in-line between the block and in-line elements is that in-line in line with text and block acts as a block and just add display in-line block or display block to change behavior of that element. So everything can be in-line and everything can be a block element by just by adding these rule display. And this is it, thank you for watching and bye-bye.

Width and height units - Webflow CSS tutorial (using the Old UI)

03:59
In web design, you can declare an element's width and/or height using either fixed values or relative values. This video covers the most commonly used dimensions (outside of ems): 1. Auto-sizing (auto) 2. Pixels (px) 3. Percentage (%) 4. Viewport height (vh) 5. Viewport width (vw) 6. Minimum (min) and maximum (max) You can adjust an element's width and height in the Styles Panel, under the Layout section. We’ll be covering how each of these units work in the context of setting element dimensions. ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflow http://facebook.com/webflow

CSS Tutorial For Beginners 41 - Block-level Elements

11:09
Yo my fellow web ninjas! In this CSS tutorial for beginners we're going to explore what a block-level element is. I've mentioned already that the box-model governs the spacial properties (padding, margin, width, height & border) of all block-level elements, but not yet talked about what a block level element is! A block level element is one which occupies the full horizontal width of its parent element. An in-line element stacks from left to right... IN LINE. Hence the name :P. Box model properties do not apply to in-line elements, but we can set the display types of these elements to inline-block, so that we can control the spacial properties of them too! Anyway, peace out, have fun & keep coding :). NoteToSelf: jQuery .css() Method Adds Inline Styles

09:37
When using jQuery's .css() method, you may run into confusing scenarios where your rendered styles do not match what you are expecting. This video uses a simple example of how jQuery's .css() method writes inline styles in an HTML div element. Do to the specificity of an inline style, the outer styles will be overridden. Furthermore, this video will show you how you can easily remove the inline style by passing an empty string to the .css() method.

HTML5 Basics - Display Types (Part5)

07:06
In this video we are going to talk about something inherent to html tags: display types. Display types define how the tags behave when rendered by the browser. We can use Style Sheets to change these at any time, but each tag has a default behavior and its important to understand how they will work when you are describing your page when writing the initial markup. Got that? # Three Types There are a lot, but we are going to concern ourselves with three main display styles. # Block Block level elements are big blocks, just like they sound. They are generally used to divide content, because by default block level elements begin on new lines. Block-level elements may contain inline elements and other block-level elements. Inherent in this structural distinction is the idea that block elements create "larger" structures than inline elements. An example is a "p" tag, that sections off the whole paragraph, and forces the next paragraph tag to a new line. Check out the notes below for a link to a list of all the block level tags in HTML. [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/Block-level_elements] # Inline Inline elements may contain only data and other inline elements. Where block level elements are larger structures that contain all kinds a crap. By default, inline elements do not begin with new line when rendered by the browser. An example of this would be to wrap some words in your paragraph in an "a" tag. the words become a link, but the link does not start a new line in the paragraph, or disrupt the flow of content. It just sits inline in the paragraph. When we get to styling our document, we will note that inline elements cannot take width, height, margin and padding styles. For more on that check out this link [http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/inline/] # Inline-block This is the strange, but handy one. An inline block is placed inline (ie. on the same line as adjacent content), but it behaves as a block. So it can take those margins and paddings and dimensions. The only tags that default to inline-block are images and buttons. But with css, later on we will see that we can change any element to inline-block if we want to. Check out the link below for more information on inline-block [http://www.impressivewebs.com/inline-block/] # Display None & Table and others... There are other default display types that all have their little display behavior quirks; like display:table, or display:none. And there are a lot of interesting display methods on the horizon in css3, but today we wanted to just talk about how the html tags cary certain display types by default.

Display settings (block, inline-block, inline, and flex) - Web design tutorial

02:55
In Webflow (and web design generally), the display setting you set an element determines its behavior in a layout. Generally speaking, elements either stack on top of each other (vertically) or lay out side by side (horizontally), depending on what display setting is used. The beauty is that you can change the display of any element. In this video, we’ll be covering the five display settings available: 1. Block 2. Inline-block 3. Inline 4. Flex 5. None ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflow http://facebook.com/webflow

Html Css Tutorial - 8 | How to write Inline, Internal & External Css | Css Borders, Margins, Padding

14:10
#htmlcss #cssfonts #cssbordres #cssmargin #csspadding Hi viewers Today in This Tutorial we discuss on the topic is: Html Css: 1) What is Css? 2) How many types to include Css file in html file? 3) How to write different font sizes? 4) How to write borders using css? 5) How to write css padding? 6) How to write css margin ? 7) Id attribute & Class attribute? Styling HTML with CSS CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed on screen, paper, or in other media. CSS saves a lot of work. It can control the layout of multiple web pages all at once. CSS can be added to HTML elements in 3 ways: Inline - by using the style attribute in HTML elements Internal - by using a style element in the head section External - by using an external CSS file The most common way to add CSS, is to keep the styles in separate CSS files. However, here we will use inline and internal styling, because this is easier to demonstrate, and easier for you to try it yourself. Inline CSS An inline CSS is used to apply a unique style to a single HTML element. An inline CSS uses the style attribute of an HTML element. Internal CSS An internal CSS is used to define a style for a single HTML page. An internal CSS is defined in the head section of an HTML page, within a style element: External CSS An external style sheet is used to define the style for many HTML pages. With an external style sheet, you can change the look of an entire web site, by changing one file! To use an external style sheet, add a link to it in the head section of the HTML page: Note: An external style sheet can be written in any text editor. The file must not contain any HTML code, and must be saved with a .css extension. CSS Fonts The CSS color property defines the text color to be used. The CSS font-family property defines the font to be used. The CSS font-size property defines the text size to be used. CSS Border The CSS border property defines a border around an HTML element: CSS Padding The CSS padding property defines a padding (space) between the text and the border: CSS Margin The CSS margin property defines a margin (space) outside the border: Follow - Shs Tech Solutions : https://www.youtube.com/shstechsolutions Follow On Social Media : Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/shstechsolut... How to Vertically Align Text next to an Image

03:26
Align those images and text! Perfectly align them next to each other using CSS magical magic :) Project Resources: http://www.mediafire.com/download/raktf1cxje34p17/How_to_vertically_align_text_next_to_an_image.7z Tools: Brackets, FREE code editor http://brackets.io/ Emmet, super speed coding addon http://emmet.io/ Beautify, turning your ugly code into beautiful script https://github.com/brackets-beautify/brackets-beautify Transcription: Hi guys, today we will vertically align text next to an image. So let's do it! First of all, let's import our image. I prepare some image in the description you have project files are in the description, so you can download it. It's a pretty big image but don't worry, it's a just a motherboard. Okay, just let's style these image a bit. We styled this image just say that are image size height. Height to be 100 pixels we just shrink our image, okay? And just added the span element. Span element ,and say this is a text. Okay, as you can see, this is the text is a bit down here and we want to be in the middle. Just and vertically align middle. Ta-da. This is it, guys. Don't go, there are few gems about this, as you can see, this is in in the middle and as you can see these blue is our in-line element. But, for example, what if we want to add our p tag? This is a problem, the problem is here. This p is below the image so if you want to add this p next to our image we just have to do these: Our p tag needs some modification, okay? We add display-inline. And this is it, as you can see if we select this tag. Our p tag acts like an inline element, just like our span element, and because the p tag is the block element, if we remove this, it will go down there. OK, just remove this, but if you say inline-block, it will also be up, but act as a block element as you can see, I can now select only the text. And if I selected this, it's a different, remember : this one here, the big one is inline and this one is a block element. It's a huge difference, and in my tutorial tutorials you can learn what is the difference between inline and block elements, so don't be scared and visit me there, and that's it guys and have a nice day, I hope this, I hope this help you, and bye-bye.

CSS Display Property in HINDI - How to use CSS Display in HTML?

10:44
Hello Friends.. today in this video i have explained the complete concept of CSS Display .. How to use CSS Display property in HTML? CSS display is the most important property of CSS which is used to control the layout of the element. It specifies how the element is displayed. Every element has a default display value according to its nature. Every element on the webpage is a rectangular box and the CSS property defines the behavior of that rectangular box. Syntax display:value; CSS display values There are following CSS display values which are commonly used. display: inline; display: inline-block; display: block; display: none; CSS display inline The inline element takes the required width only. It doesn't force the line break so the flow of text doesn't break in inline example. CSS display inline-block The CSS display inline-block element is very similar to inline element but the difference is that you are able to set the width and height. CSS display block The CSS display block element takes as much as horizontal space as they can. Means the block element takes the full available width. They make a line break before and after them. CSS display none The "none" value totally removes the element from the page. It will not take any space. Hope you guys like the video,if you have any other query ,please let me know. Thanks for watching.. Please Like ,share and Subscribe the channel.. JAI HIND!!
