The first Descendants ROTTEN TO THE CORE remains to this very day one of the favorite music video by the fans of Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos, and today we go behind the scene to reveal the hidden easter eggs!
***VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION SPOILERS***
Hiya Virals! Tabb Lloyd here, and today we are going to talk about the Descendants!
"Rotten to the Core" has become one of the most iconic songs from the Descendants franchise. You might know all the lyrics by heart, but did you notice some of these Easter eggs that Disney sneaked into the music video?
But before that, if you are new to our channel, please remember to subscribe and put the notifications on, so you won`t miss any of our cool videos!
Number 10. Mal's graffiti has a secret message
Remember that "Long Live" icon in the first shot? The word right across from "Live" is reflected backwards to read "Evil"!
Number 9. The "Long Live" graffiti is color coded
After Mal walks away, tossing the spray paint can behind her, we then see Jay jumping up on top of another building. Look closely: behind him you can see another piece of "Long Live Evil" graffiti, but this time it's in Jay's colors: red, blue, and yellow.
Number 8. There's a shout out to Maleficent
Mal's graffiti is in the shape of Maleficent's evil form from the original Sleeping Beauty movie!
Number 7. The kids really don't like Auradon
Before we even know what Auradon is, look behind Mal while she's spray-painting. There are several posters to her right, and one of them says "DOWN WITH AURADON."
Number 6. Evie's a fashion fiend...
Evie's introduction immediately sets up her character. She jumps onto a table and walks down it like the table is a runway. Not surprising, since we later learn what a great fashion designer she is!
Number 5. ...and loves romance!
We get another hint about Evie in the middle of the video when she dances through the market. She uses a scarf to pull a guy towards her, before pushing him away. In the movie itself, Evie helps Mal trick Ben into falling in love with Mal.
Number 4. The sequel was hinted at from the beginning
While Jay is dancing in the first part of the video, watch who he pushes away to open that red door. It's a pirate holding a barrel. Guess who we see in the sequel? Lots of pirates!
Number 3. Apples are a running gag
In the beginning of the video, Carlos steals an apple from a little girl. Later, he pushes over a bucket of apples. This is a silly nod to the title of the song itself: like a bad apple, the Villain Kids are "rotten to the core."
Number 2. Carlos identifies with dogs
Towards the end, when all the VKs are dancing with the other Isle of the Lost people, Carlos can be seen wearing a little tail charm.
Number 1. Green is the color of evil
Mal's trademark is green and purple, but we also see green everywhere on the Isle. Guys wear green jackets, and there's green paint on a lot of the buildings.
