http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/07/north-korea-privileged-pyongyang-daily-life ==================================================== Ok, so this is my 46th video that I uploaded, many people asked me.. "How could you upload youtube video in NK?". "He uploads the video after he back to Indonesia, because he didn't dare if he upload directly from NK". Nope..that is not entirely True.. The answer is.. I already back to Indonesia, and currently I live in Indonesia.. My first 23 videos was uploaded when I was in North Korea. The most different thing that when I uploaded video in NK, for a 15 minute video needed two days to upload, because the internet there was unstable due to electricity on off several times in a day..I can’t subscribe for cellular internet mobile because its way too expensive and..not reliable too... but..when in Indonesia, I can choose which provider for internet and to upload a 15 minute video need only few minutes... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK.. back to this video.. I was going to a store which was located inside the Diplomatic Compound in Munsu District, behind Vietnam Embassy (you can check it out in Google Maps) Sure..because these videos is about my daily life in NK...so I only posted about my routines things that I am doing in NK). This store named Pyongyang Shop, which only several people who can access inside, only Foreigners and local Korean people who can get permission to be inside Diplomatic Compound (usually Korean people who works for foreign Organisations and embassies). Btw.. sorry for bad English and Korean.. Any viewers who understand Korean language might be laughing hearing me trying to make conversations with the locals..please pardon me ====================================== Read these links for more information: 1. http://www.timeout.com/seoul/art/instagrams-from-north-korea 2. http://www.rappler.com/indonesia/128224-pengalaman-tinggal-di-korea-utara-jaka-parker 3. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/07/north-korea-privileged-pyongyang-daily-life 4. http://www.nkeconwatch.com/2016/02/04/inofficial-and-official-exchange-rates-in-north-korea-what-is-the-gap/ 5. https://www.nknews.org/2015/10/residents-respond-how-accurate-is-press-coverage-of-n-korean-life/ 6. http://www.vocativ.com/213820/these-instagram-pictures-came-out-of-north-korea/ 7. http://www.businessinsider.co.id/these-10-instagrammers-show-us-life-inside-north-korea-2015-5/10/#.Vzgt0JN96Rs 8. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/02/15/the-latest-global-metropolis-to-introduce-car-rationing-pyongyang/ 9. http://all-that-is-interesting.com/north-korean-street-food 10. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/ever-wondered-what-north-korean-8080912 11. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2638213/Tourist-took-camera-inside-North-Korea-expected-really-really-sad-people-shocked-seemingly-ordinary-lives-citizens.html 12. http://all-that-is-interesting.com/daily-life-in-north-korea-pyongyang ======================================= Want to see daily life in North Korea? The Luxury Store in North Korea

14:34
This shop is called Rakwon Dept. Store, one of the fancy stores located in North Korea. 90% of products sold here are foreign products, and the price is quite 'classy'. One time I took my daughters to buy toys at this store, and my kids chose expensive toys, I refused to buy it and distract them to buy cheaper toys, then the chaos ensued. Lol ;-))) =========================== The opening and closing music by: Wanna One - Beautiful =========================== These videos is about my daily life in NK...so I only posted about my routines things that I am doing in NK). Wolhyang General Store in North Korea - Part 1

10:45
Please, READ THE DESCRIPTION! https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/07/north-korea-privileged-pyongyang-daily-life I visited the WolHyang shop located in WolHyang District, near the Arch of Triumph downtown Pyongyang. The shop is frequently visited by foreign tourists, in this store there are available a variety of souvenirs such as artwork, herbs and so forth. My several visits to the store with my family or while I served as a photographer for several foreign delegations I took them to visit this store. In this store, it is allowed to take pictures and videos. The employees are also friendly and they allowed to take photos together. For this time I tried to take a video, my wife and I want to buy an embroidery painting but the kind of painting that I want is not available then my wife bought some Tea Ginseng. Several waitresses noticed my GoPro camera, but they don’t mind and thought it was a pocket camera. ===================== Since I came to Pyongyang in November 2012 until I left Pyongyang in March 2016 I got so many experiences. I just wanna share a bit of my life experience in North Korea, mostly in Pyongyang. We are foreigners (Diplomats, Expatriates) who live in Pyongyang can roam freely around Pyongyang, and diplomats got more privileged than other expatriates. There are also many Americans (USA), Canadians, Korean American who works as teachers and professors in Pyongyang. Foreigners can travel to other cities outside Pyongyang, but we must request permission to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea. Since I lived in North Korea, I already travel to other cities in Northern, Western, Southern and Eastern side. Sometimes I travel with a minder, sometimes I just drive my car by my own and with my family (without a minder), #NOTE: I am not a diplomat and didn’t work for embassy. ======================================= Want to see daily life in North Korea? North Korean Auto Dealership

03:05
(For licensing or usage, contact [email protected]) North Korea appears to have its own auto manufacturer. On a recent visit to the country, we toured the company's salesroom in Pyongyang. It was hard to discern what was real and what wasn't.

Computer Store in North Korea

10:35
Many people are asking about the technological developments in North Korea. About their knowledge of computers and the use of other electronic goods. North Korea today is different from North Korea before, now they are more open to technological developments. You can find some electronic and computer stores in Pyongyang city, and when you buy a computer or notebook then you will get it without a LAN port. The LAN port is removed, therefore we can not connect the notebook we bought with a LAN cable. In this video, I followed my friend bought a Notebook's charger adapter at an electronics store in Pyongyang, North Korea. The store also sells various items such as televisions, washing machine, refrigerator, DSLR Cameras, External Hard Disk, USB memory, Notebook, and others. ====================================================== Read these links for more information: 1. http://www.timeout.com/seoul/art/instagrams-from-north-korea 2. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/07/north-korea-privileged-pyongyang-daily-life 3. http://www.nkeconwatch.com/2016/02/04/inofficial-and-official-exchange-rates-in-north-korea-what-is-the-gap/ 4. https://www.nknews.org/2015/10/residents-respond-how-accurate-is-press-coverage-of-n-korean-life/ 5. http://all-that-is-interesting.com/daily-life-in-north-korea-pyongyang ======================================= Want to see daily life in North Korea? What It's Like To Sell Burgers In North Korea (HBO)

04:40
North Korea is not a capitalist country, so the number of people who’ve actually done business there is quite small. Among them is Patrick Soh, who helped bring fast food to Pyongyang back in 2009, and Geoffrey See, who started Choson Exchange, a group that brings business professionals into North Korea to teach people there how to run businesses. Wide and pan left of the Kwangbok Area Commercial Centre LEADIN North Koreans are buzzing with excitement at a newly opened shopping centre in the capital, Pyongyang. It's been opened as part of efforts to increase the availability of consumer goods in the country, but it has a special significance because it's one of the last places that the late North Korean leader, Kim Jong Il visited in the days before he died in December 2011. STORYLINE: The new Kwangbok Area Commercial Centre is making shopping history in Pyongyang. Citizens can now shop for everything from toothpaste to television sets in one place. Although common for many people around the world, these aisles lined with daily necessities are a rare sight in North Korea. Kwangbok is the name of a district in the west of the North Korean capital. Built in the 1980s, it's a concentration of high rise apartment blocks. The shopping centre originally opened years ago in the 1990s, but recently it's undergone a major facelift, thanks to a joint venture between North Korea's Taesong General Trading Corporation, and China's Feihaimengxin International Trade Company. But they're not Japanese citizens, or even ethnically Japanese - they're North Korean. There's about 150,000 of them living in Japan today, and they've been there for over a century. This community has close ties with the regime in Pyongyang, which supports them financially (and vice-versa). But more importantly, Pyongyang offers them an identity, a heritage, and cultural legitimacy - things that some elements of Japanese society work to deny them. Vox Borders Episodes: 1. Cutting My Hair in North Korea

10:30
Shaving hair in North Korea? Interesting and unique, because the barber in North Korea is mostly women. In Pyongyang, almost in every corner of the city has lots of barbershop, you do not have to worry about your hair longish. If you shave in the usual places (local) room without air conditioning then you will be charged only 10000 won (about 1,2 USD). If you shave in a more classier with air-conditioned rooms it will cost 4-5 US Dollar. In this video I will bring you cycling to a barbershop which is located about 3 km from my home, behind Daesong Department Store, Sanwon Street, Pyongyang. This place is an air-conditioned Barbershop and one of my favorite places to do shave. Although sometimes the electricity off while the shaving process is underway, but fortunately this time in this video the electricity is stable. By the way, the barber woman in this video (I forget her name) is my favorite barber, she was very friendly to me and always give the best service. ======================================= Gear: GoPro Hero4 Silver and GoPro Hero4 Session Music by: https://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud/keep-on-going ======================================= Want to see daily life in North Korea? Haircut in North Korea

I wanted to get a haircut in North Korea and my guides originally brought me to their newest and most modern barber shop. I wanted a more authentic experience so I requested they bring me to an old school barber. They brought me to this place. Local prices for grooming services range from €0.30 to €1.15 euro dollars. I paid €5 Euros (foreigner price) for my haircut.

North Korea’s unique AK rifle- Part2

Many people all over the world are unsettled by the threats and rocket tests conducted by the nation of North Korea and Kim Jong Un. It’s a popular topic of speculation as to what are their intentions. I’m no military strategist but I do feel that a close examination of the design of one of the rifles most often seen guarding Kim gives clues as to his mindset. Here we examine new findings about this helical mag design as well as its history in development and why North Korea is desperate for world recognition.

North Korean Type 58 AK

09:22
Sold for $54,625. North Korea was one of several recipients of Soviet military technological aid during the Cold War, being provided the design package and manufacturing assistance for both he SKS and AK-47 rifles. The AK was adopted by North Korea in 1958, in the Type 3 milled-receiver style. This was just shortly before the Soviet Union would introduce its stamped-receiver AKM, having spent nearly 10 years developing and perfecting the sheet metal fabrication expertise required (the original stamped-receiver AK-47 was a failure in mass production). North Korea only produced something on the order of 50,000 Type 58 AKs - a substantial number of guns, although quite small in comparison to most other AK variants produced worldwide. They have found their way into numerous conflicts worldwide, but very few are registered and transferrable in the US, making this one quite the rare example. http://www.patreon.com/ForgottenWeapons Related: North Korean Type 70 Pistol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-iTmpXDx5s Chinese Type 56 Milled AK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6cqYLdIqmI

North Korean Labor Camps - VICE NEWS - Part 1 of 7

North Korea has come up with a new way to bring cold hard cash into its isolated country: export North Korean workers to slave away in the Siberian forest (often without telling them they're no longer in North Korea). We set out to investigate these camps and almost landed ourselves in quite a bit of trouble. (THE 7 CHOICES) If you were put in charge of one mission - to take down the North Korean regime - a mission that had previously left world leaders beaten and befuddled, where failure could result in changes to the political and physical landscape for generations to come….what would you do? And time is of the essence here, as the longer you wait, the likelier it is for Dear Leader to complete development of nukes capable of reaching the continental US, or perhaps anywhere else in the world. Actually, according to some reports, it might already be too late! But whether North Korea actually fires is another question altogether. If we are to rid the world of this nefarious regime - I’m talking the regime not the people - we have to consider the options. In this video, I’ll go over the seven way to take down North Korea - including the most destructive, the most convenient, the most secretive, and the most unexpected.

http://good.is/ October, 2006: The U.N. sanctioned a long list of delectable goods that could no longer pass over North Korea's borders. This was no typical maneuver to target military build-up or weapon designs. Instead, the U.N. hoped to entice Kim Jong Il away from his nuclear warheads by blacklisting luxury items specific to his extravagant tastes.

Brutal North Korean regime considered 'chic' by Elle magazine

01:16
The creative director of Elle Magazine has named "North Korea chic" a "fall fashion trend." Because of course, famine and execution is so in right now. What the hell is Joe Zee thinking? I mean darling, who wouldn't want to look like a member of Kim Jong Un's in crowd during an afternoon at the executions? And have you seen those peasant rags? Totally to die for. Friend of the regime, Dennis rodman made an appearance at Kim Jong Un's fall collection show. This season's Pyongyang pumps—absolutely killer heels. The Rise of South Korea’s Sex Shop Industry

13:53
For years, sex shops in South Korea were places most people were too embarrassed to walk into, but now thanks to looser regulation and changing attitudes toward sex, they're becoming more mainstream—moving from back alleys to busy street corners, and welcoming a growing number of customers. To find out more about the rise of sex shops in South Korea, VICE met up with a few store owners in Seoul whose businesses are at the forefront of the burgeoning industry. They told us why Koreans are becoming more comfortable with the idea of shopping for sex toys, and how—even as the number of adult stores grows—there’s still work to be done to make sex less of a taboo in the country. RP46 Variations: Russian, North Korean, and US Reproduction

28:59
FYI, the Russian kit in this video is currently for sale on GunBroker. http://www.patreon.com/ForgottenWeapons Cool Forgotten Weapons merchandise! http://shop.bbtv.com/collections/forgotten-weapons The RP-46 was the final iteration of the Degtyarev DP27/DPM light machine gun, modified to feed from Maxim/SG43/PK belts instead of pan magazines. As such, it was able to serve the role of a universal machine gun like the MG34 and MG42 until the Soviet Union was able to develop a true purpose-built GPMG in the PK. Because the RP-46 is a very rare firearm in collectors' hands today, it is not well understood by most. While the top feed adapter is known, many people do not realize that several other elements of the weapon were changed at the same time, including a complete redesign of the gas block. Today we are looking at a Russian-made set of RP-46 parts and also a North Korean set (North Korea adopted the design as the Type 64, with several changes form the Soviet pattern). We will also look at the American-made reproduction RP46 top cover made by SMG Guns of Texas. The reproduction adapter has several improvements over the originals, while maintaining a very authentic look. Most significantly, it can be used without any permanent modification to a semiautomatic or fully automatic DP/DPM. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/07/north-korea-privileged-pyongyang-daily-life ================================================ Please watch this video until the end. Ok, so this is my 47th video that I uploaded, many people asked me.. Any viewers who understand Korean language might be laughing hearing me trying to make conversations with the locals..please pardon me. ======================================= Read these links for more information: 1. http://www.timeout.com/seoul/art/instagrams-from-north-korea 2. http://www.rappler.com/indonesia/128224-pengalaman-tinggal-di-korea-utara-jaka-parker 3. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/07/north-korea-privileged-pyongyang-daily-life 4. http://www.nkeconwatch.com/2016/02/04/inofficial-and-official-exchange-rates-in-north-korea-what-is-the-gap/ 5. https://www.nknews.org/2015/10/residents-respond-how-accurate-is-press-coverage-of-n-korean-life/ 6. http://www.vocativ.com/213820/these-instagram-pictures-came-out-of-north-korea/ 7. http://www.businessinsider.co.id/these-10-instagrammers-show-us-life-inside-north-korea-2015-5/10/#.Vzgt0JN96Rs 8. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/02/15/the-latest-global-metropolis-to-introduce-car-rationing-pyongyang/ 9. http://all-that-is-interesting.com/north-korean-street-food 10. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/ever-wondered-what-north-korean-8080912 11. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2638213/Tourist-took-camera-inside-North-Korea-expected-really-really-sad-people-shocked-seemingly-ordinary-lives-citizens.html 12. http://all-that-is-interesting.com/daily-life-in-north-korea-pyongyang ======================================= Want to see daily life in North Korea? 20 Things You Cannot Buy In North Korea

13:08
10 Regular objects men and women cannot find in North Korea. Subscribe: https://goo.gl/Hnoaw3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Because of strict United Nations sanctions and the harsh rules set in place by the North Korean government, its residents are limited in terms of what they can buy. You probably don’t think twice about buying a house, purchasing a Starbucks coffee, stocking up on sanitary napkins, or booking a weekend vacation. However, many North Koreans won’t be able to experience these things. If you’d like to see a list of items you can’t buy in the country, make sure to watch our video: 20 Things You Cannot Buy In North Korea. Did you know that buying a Coca-Cola is impossible to do in the country? Well, actually, it’s not entirely impossible. The soda brand doesn’t operate in North Korea at all, but that hasn’t stopped its citizens from bringing in counterfeit Coke from China. Another product that can’t be purchased in North Korea is Apple’s iPad. However, their leader, Kim Jong-un, is reportedly a fan of Apple products. Go figure! The citizens are also banned from purchasing hair dye to color their hair, magazines that aren’t approved by the government, and music from foreign and local artists. Not only that, condoms aren’t readily available either, they’re unable to get access to medicine to treat common ailments and viruses, and they aren’t allowed to buy Christmas trees during the holidays. Make sure you watch our video to find out why! We’ll show you even more shocking things you can’t buy in the country, including real estate, WiFi, healthcare, fertilizer, cable TV, DVD players, jeans, and cigarettes. After you watch our video and let us know which of these banned items surprised you the most. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

10 Things Forbidden To Buy in North Korea

04:13
Get more Tips here! http://www.destinationtips.com We are used to buy anything we think of, but if we're heading to North Korea. We should bare in mind that due to the sanctions by the United Nations plus the restrictions by kim jong Un, there're lots of products we can't buy there. 1) Cable TV As you can imagine, all the tv programes are monitored by the Government. In fact, they even have a strict scheadule, the tv channel starts at 3 pm. Everything that you can see has already been pre-approved, and it's basically, news, propaganda, documentaries and the activities of their leader. So fun! 2) Smoking In 2007, smoking was completely forbidden to avoid health issues in their former leader Kim Jong Il. However his son and actual leader has been seen several times smoking freely and with no restrictions at all. 3) Magazines Of course, we're talking about international magazines, forget about the ones you already know, you won't find them. This happens to avoid being brainwashed from foreign media. So, instead, they have others controlled by their Government, full of national propaganda and the activities of their leader. Very entertaining for sure... 4) Christmas trees The country says to support any religion custom, however, that's not true. If you show a preference for any other religion you will have lots of really big problems. And... Christmas trees represent another religion so... you can imagine the consequences of having one. 5) Ipad Apple company has restrictions on this country so they don't sell their products there, also in North Korea is completely forbidden to have one or an Iphone. However, their leader Kim Jong Un is allowed to own them and he doesn't hesitate in taking pictures with them. 6) Houses It's a very strange thing for us to think of a country where you can't own a home, but... this is North Korea. So, here, the thing is that there are no builders, the army build everything, and... also, instead of buying a house, flat or whatever, you trade it. It's forbidden to own properties. 7) Birth control methods Many North Korean people don't even know what they are. They used to sell them in the black market, however they don't do that anymore because they were expensive and unknown. 8) Jeans Yes! you heard it right! Jeans! Well, the North Korean Government controls... everything. So the style of clothing is not less. They have established a specific style that doesn't involve jeans at all. In fact, it's forbidden, so you won't find them on the stores. 9) Coca cola The real coca cola is impossible to find in this country due to the international sanctions. However, there is a fake Chinese coca cola that try to replace it on the stores. So if you are too anxious for one, maybe you can try this one. 10) Mc Donalds No, you won't find any Mc Donalds at all in North Korea due to the international sanctions. Sure, you can find some burguer over there, but it will never be the same. If you go there, try to eat them before you travel. Did you already know all of these restrictions in North Korea? Comment below!

Has Elle crossed a line with it's celebration of North Korean style? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daily videos brought to you by THE Taiwanese Animators behind the infamous Tiger Woods animation.
