William Wordsworth - I Travelled Among Unknown Men (Lucy poems)

01:00
Please click here for my WORDSWORTH PLAYLIST ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIODhkmGfRGehwKboE9OTEgMwdEWuvbWl Completed in 1801, after Wordsworth's sojourn in Germany, this short poem is part of the group of works known as Wordsworth's "Lucy poems", along with "She dwelt among the untrodden ways", "Strange fits of passion I have known", "Three years she grew" and "A slumber did my spirit seal". All these poems are about the death of a young woman whom the narrator was in love with. I TRAVELLED AMONG UNKNOWN MEN I travelled among unknown Men, In Lands beyond the Sea; Nor, England! did I know till then What love I bore to thee. 'Tis past, that melancholy dream! Nor will I quit thy shore A second time; for still I seem To love thee more and more. Among thy mountains did I feel The joy of my desire; And She I cherished turned her wheel Beside an English fire. Thy mornings shewed, thy nights concealed The bowers where Lucy played; And thine is too the last green field That Lucy's eyes surveyed. B: But it seems to us these lessons are yet to be learned C: Don't tell me she was sober enough to make a decision. D: Don't tell me she was asking for it. B: Don't tell me to pity him for facing consequences. C: You complain about another "rape poem" D: But this is all part of a culture. ALL: The "rape poems" will continue A: Until I can wear whatever the fuck I want and not be called a slut! B: Until I can trust my drink to someone at a party when I need to take a piss! C: Until I can walk alone on dark streets without being catcalled! Real men write poems for their women. :) Watch as I read the star-shaped poem that Chris surprised me with. Stars are kinda a theme for us because we love to watch the stars together, we had our first kiss outside under the stars, and that's where he asked me to be his girlfriend. Every night we look up at the stars together and point out the different constellations. I wear my star bracelet he got me every single day. :)

Fierce Fairytales: Poems and Stories to Stir Your Soul Audiobook by Nikita Gill

03:07
You can listen to the full audiobook Fierce Fairytales: Poems and Stories to Stir Your Soul, free at our library. Poet, writer, and Instagram sensation Nikita Gill returns with a collection of fairytales poetically retold for a new generation of women. Traditional fairytales are rife with cliches and gender stereotypes: beautiful, silent princesses; ugly, jealous, and bitter villainesses; girls who need rescuing; and men who take all the glory. But in this rousing new prose and poetry collection, Nikita Gill gives Once Upon a Time a much-needed modern makeover. Through her gorgeous reimagining of fairytale classics and spellbinding original tales, she dismantles the old-fashioned tropes that have been ingrained in our minds. In this book, gone are the docile women and male saviors. Instead, lines blur between heroes and villains. You will meet fearless princesses, a new kind of wolf lurking in the concrete jungle, and an independent Gretel who can bring down monsters on her own. Complete with beautifully hand-drawn illustrations by Gill herself, Fierce Fairytales is an empowering collection of poems and stories for a new generation.

JW's: "YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO RELATE!"(poems within description)

06:09
You Might Be able to relate.... From house to house, From door to door... We made the lies our own! Targeting the gullible for free memberships, No matter the global time zones! I misspoke when I said free membership, Because just about everything has a hidden price! Welcome to the hotel of misseducation, We're prisoners of our own device! Volunteering for a publishing company, Hour after hour! The ultimate pyramid scheme, AKA the Watchtower! Whether born in or walked in, The montras were repeated constantly! The end is any day now, They wouldn't just let us be! 1914 came & went, Along with 1975! You too can live forever, So many have served faithfully & died! The generation that'll see the conclusion? They faithfully followed your self-directed path! Oh you're all dead now? I guess you can't trust our math! No apologies for misleading billions, That might be mistaken for humility? Besides we're all imperfect! Just get a load of me! We didn't tell you our version of biblical light, Has a dimming switch! Up and down we turn it, Now ain't that a ________? Bethel means the house of God, Even though as a spirit God's dwelling couldn't be constructed by women and men! They'll come & visit by millions anyway, Let's just play pretend! We're not prosperity preachers, Matter of fact you can refer to us as slaves! Which is why you work free for us, From the cradle to the grave! You upgraded our facilities, While we taught Ya'll to keep it simple! Some do it for the Vine... We got Ya'll doing it free for our temple! What's known as the gospel truth today, Tomorrow is Gone with the Wind... And if you don't keep up with the programming, We can disfellowship you for sin! Listen, Obey and be blessed! Or suffer the consequences! Oh you've got questions now, We need to take away your priveledges! Sin against the Father? Nope you sinned against our teachings! What am I being charged with? In us you stopped believing! When we said, "It takes two to make a thing go right!" Even in the matter of child rape! Don't believe your lying eyes, Even though the Australian Royal Commission has us on tape! The Bible says don't have mediums in your midst, Even though we claim to be God's appointed channel! Directed but not inspired? You're waking up to 1/2 the battle! Who's the ultimate war truly with, The masters whom truly pulled the GBs strings! Powers the ultimate motivation! Absolute power ruined wannabe Kings! We'll tell you how to dress, We'll definitely tell you how to think! Taking the place of a God, Can lead millions to drink! We'll baptize you before you turn 10! Isn't that what Jesus would do? But wasn't he 30 when he got dipped? You're questioning us? Shame on You! Why is leaving the organization, Considered leaving God? Because they've swapped places with the heavenly one, Even though that might sound odd? Women you truly have become a large army! So many pioneers in the field! Don't forget to take those happy pills, It's how many have learned with the stress to deal! Who gave men the ability to grow beards? Do you believe it was the Creator above? Now who's opinions do you faithfully follow? Prove to the GB some love! To whom do you belong? Which God will you obey? Do you truly know the truth about the truth? Again why do you stay? Mallika Sarabhai's feminist take on two poems

06:13
Mallika Sarabhai interprets women through poems by a Momin and feminist poet Kishwar Nahid , comparing how a man imagines a woman longing and waiting endlessly for him and how, in sharp contrast, women view their own lives. Momin Khan Momin's poem "voh jo hum mein tum mein qaraar tha" is one of the most famous poems of Urdu literature immortalized by Begum Akhtar. The message of her poem 'I am not that woman' is that males and females are not always equal and that people especially women are dominated by men and this poem helps to vent their thoughts and feelings.

02:54
Poem set in Pelion, Greece, read by Gill and celebrating and honouring women's movements and women activists on violence against women. As many of us reach the end of our contribution after 40 years or so, we leave the world changed compared to how it was before we all began.

Grand Slam Poetry Champion | Harry Baker | TEDxExeter

14:06
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. From primes to proper pop-up purple paper people, Harry Baker performs his a pun-tastic and poignant poetry. Harry Baker has always loved words. He's been blessed enough to travel round the world with them, winning the Poetry Slam World Cup in 2012 and currently using a maths degree as an excuse to live in Germany and find heaps more new words to play with. After two 5-star Edinburgh Fringe festival shows and almost growing a beard once, the next adventure is having his first book released in April this year. https://twitter.com/harrybakerpoet At TEDxExeter 2014 our speakers and performers connected us with other worlds. Our talks exposed corruption in big business, shared effective approaches to tackling social inequality and gave a voice to those whose human rights are under threat. We explored the impact of fast changing technologies on all our lives. We journeyed through fire and forest to frozen landscapes. We were challenged to consider worlds of extremes, cutting edge controversies and risky opportunities. Video Production Chromatrope (http://chromatrope.co.uk/) Production Manager Andy Robertson (http://www.youtube.com/familygamertv) About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

5 Poems by H. D. (Hilda Doolittle)

05:24
H.D. (Hilda Doolittle) 1886- 1961 "We must be 'in love' before we can understand the mysteries of vision." -H.D. (1) H. D. thought of her work as a "matrix." A womb, the matrix is a place of form from which something is given birth. In Notes on Thought and Vision, she writes that in her creative life she "swing[s] from normal consciousness to abnormal consciousness." She called the abnormal consciousness the "over-mind" and considered it the state of the poet's sensibility. She believed that memory is the origin of an artistic expression. Describing H. D.'s theory, Janice Robinson says "the moment of artistic creativity is a moment of knowledge; it is also a moment of recovery of a more primal connection to life."(2)ROB 233 She then quotes H. D. from Notes on thought and Vision, "when we are 'born again' we begin not as a child but as the very first germs that grow into a child." (3)ROB 233 Hilda Doolittle was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania September 10, 1886. Her father was a professor of astronomy. Her mother, Helen (Wolle) was a Moravian and interested in music. She met Ezra Pound in 1901, four years before graduating high school, a seminal figure in her development as a poet and her first love. It was Pound who began calling Hilda H. D. She attended Bryn Mawr College, and was classmates with Marianne Moore and William Carlos Williams, but she left after three years because of poor grades. She became engaged to Pound in 1908, but her father's objected and the engagement was abandoned. She met and began a relationship with Frances Gregg. In 1910 she traveled to Europe with Frances and Frances' mother. In Europe she began writing seriously. She brought her poems to pound and he encouraged her. In 1912, along with Richard Addington, the three proclaimed themselves the original Imagists. Taking cues from free verse and haiku, they described the Imagist aesthetic as treating the "thing" directly either subjectively or objectively, and sought to present the poem economically without a single extraneous word. H.D. Was bisexual and had a number of affairs with men and women. She described her relationship with Freud as being his "pupil," when she consulted with him to explore her bisexuality. She appears as the lead in the silent film "Borderline," (1930) which explores and interracial affair, prejudice, and madness.(4) IMDB Later in life H. D.'s writing concerned a feminist perspective on male dominant epic poetry. She drew from her interest in the Greek classics writing Helen in Egypt from inspiration of Euripides's play "Helen." Though not read widely during her time, H. D. was rediscovered in the 1970's when interest in her work was rekindled by the emergence of feminist criticism. H.D suffered a stroke in July 1961 and died September 27 of that year. ========================== Text of poems: Garden http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=2260 Evening http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=182468 The Pool http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=2259 Sigil (Not available on line) From "The Voice That Is Great Within US, American poetry of the 20th Century ed, Hayden Carruth, Bantam Classic, 1970 Sheltered Garden http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=177770 ========================== Sources & Notes: Janice S. 5 Creepy Japanese Death Poems

03:11
In celebration of National Poetry Day (Sept 28) I collaborated with Don't Turn Around to write some creepy horror poetry. ► Don't Turn Around Horror Poem: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOTvG8GRkiteKcea98JxirQ In this video, I wrote some creepy Japanese Death poems. To put a CZsWorld twist on it, I based each one on a different horror anime of my choosing. Whoever can guess the anime that each poem is supposed to represent in the comments will receive a shoutout in the next Deadstream. Death poems are usually in the form called jisei-ei and consist of 5 lines with 5, 7, 5, 7 and 7 syllables in each line respectively. I also included one bonus death poem at the end, based on my upcoming short film, Dreadful Misfortune. You'll also find a few teaser clips of that film. Thanks to Don't Turn Around for collaborating with me on this project. I read some Charles Bukowski poems in Swedish (Binaural, Male, Soft voice).

Since the video with Moomin was so short. I decided to do an audio only where I read some Charles Bukowski poems in Swedish. I start reading 5 min in. Warning: Some may think that the poems is a bit vulgar. I have some friends over and do not want to be rude and ask them to be quiet (If you're wondering what sound it is you hear in the background).
