The United States Secret Service ("USSS" or "Secret Service") is a federal law enforcement agency under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.Until 2003, the Service was part of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, as the agency was originally founded to combat the then-widespread counterfeiting of U.S. currency. The U.S. Secret Service has two distinct areas of responsibility: Investigations – Safeguarding the payment and financial systems of the United States from a wide range of financial and computer-based crimes, including but not limited to counterfeit U.S. currency, identity theft, access device fraud, cyber crimes, network intrusions, ransomware, business email compromise, bank fraud, and illicit financing operations. The Secret Service is a key member of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) which investigates and combats terrorism on a national and international scale. The Service is also authorized to assist in investigating missing and exploited children. Protection – Ensuring the safety of the President of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, the President’s and Vice President’s immediate families, former presidents, their spouses and their minor children under the age of 16, foreign heads of state, major presidential and vice presidential candidates and their spouses, and events designated as National Special Security Events. As part of the Secret Service’s mission of preventing an incident before it occurs, the agency relies on meticulous advance work and threat assessments developed by its Intelligence Division to identify potential risks to protectees. The Secret Service's initial responsibility was to investigate the counterfeiting of U.S. currency, which was rampant following the U.S. Civil War. The agency then evolved into the United States' first domestic intelligence and counterintelligence agency. Many of the agency's missions were later taken over by subsequent agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and IRS Criminal Investigation Division (IRS). #USA #SecretService #SpecialForces #Motivation

Created 150 years ago, the U.S. Secret Service was originally formed to combat counterfeiters. But after three presidents were assassinated, the agency was charged with protecting the commander-in-chief. Their proud legacy, however, has been tarnished by recent, unfortunate headlines. Lee Cowan talks with the new director of the Secret Service, Joseph Clancy, a 27-year veteran agent now tasked with turning the agency around; and with a former agent who once took a bullet for President Ronald Reagan.

The Secret Service was created on the same day that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, and the irony is not lost on anyone. It was the 14th of April 1865, and Lincoln created the agency – not as protection for himself – but to crack down on the distribution of counterfeit money which was threatening to destroy the American economy. Lincoln was assassinated by Wilkes Booth later that day while attending a play at a local theatre. To function efficiently, the Secret Service must have a few secret tactics that will ensure the safety of the American President. Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. 8 - Shades On The sunglasses that the Secret Service agents wear, are not just to look cool and shade their eyes! They are also worn to ensure that nothing can get inside their eyes. 7 - Train Insane If you’re considering becoming a Secret Service agent, don’t think that once you’ve got the job of your dreams, that that’s it! They never stop training… ever! You must endure gruelling interviews, extensive background and psychological tests, and then you have to maintain and constantly prove your worth! Training is not just physical but involves weapons, emergency survival, water survival skills as well as financial fraud detection and intelligence techniques. 6 - Don’t believe Hollywood I hate to break the bad news, but Secret Service agents are not under any sworn oath that they need to die for the president. The only thing they are sworn to do is to take every possible step to ensure the president is kept safe and harm doesn’t come his way. 5 - It’s more than a job Secret Service agents don’t just look after the president, their jobs involve so much more. Besides keeping track of around 1,500 death threats towards the president every year, they also investigate credit fraud, financial crimes, identity theft, counterfeiting, and computer fraud. 4 - Step Lightly It’s possible to know the exact location of the president while he is in his office, thanks to weight pressure pads underneath the carpet. This office is the only space where agents are not inside at all times but waiting just outside the door. The pressure pads help them keep track of the president constantly. 3 - Code Red Here’s a fun secret tactic that the Secret Service agents get to indulge in, and that’s picking their own code names for the president and his family members. Usually, husband and wife will share the same first letter, so for example, Michelle Obama was “Renaissance,” while Barack Obama was “Renegade.” George W. Bush was “Tumbler,” John F. Kennedy was “Lancer,” and Richard Nixon had the code name “Searchlight.” 2 - Take one for the team Secret Service agents have to expect the unexpected, and in order to do this, they often get shot with fake bullets. Using non-lethal rounds, their training incorporates having to shoot the target – now the agent – and the bullet will leave a coloured mark and a small sting. That way, agents know exactly how sure their aim is and where they need to improve. 1...

President Obama has just arrived at the Globe Theatre in London and the United States Secret Service are busy turning the vehicles around since they drove down a dead-end street. The first vehicle seen here is a black Chevrolet Suburban which is the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) vehicle which ensures secure communications with the White House for command continuity. Notice that when the Secret Service Agent gets out of the back door of the Suburban, the window is completely covered over with some sort of non-transparent material. It could be metal. It's also clear that the vehicle has minimal if any armor unlike the other Suburbans in the "secure package" closer to the president. Also note that it's clear that the rear seat of the Suburban has been removed just from the way the USSS Agent climbs out of the back door. As The Beast is being turned around, one of the USSS agents asks the London Met Counter Assault Team to move the Land Rover which can been seen pulling out. You can also see a London Metropolitan counter Assault Team in an unmarked black BMW X5 at 01:06. At 02:27 we clearly see the Ford F-550 hazardous materials support vehicle pulling out and getting into position. This vehicle has a gurney in the back for transporting the injured protectee. At 01:02 : "I guess he's got to fill Air Force One with something." :) This is the Secret Service in Action. Of course, we’re talking about the US Secret Service. These men and women have a serious job and they definitely look the part. Dressed in their black suits, their best-known job is to protect the POTUS. But there’s more to it than that. As you’ll see with these following 10 secrets, the Secret Service is about more than looking intimidating while wearing sunglasses. Ahead we’ll start you off by explaining the original purpose of the Secret Service. Spoiler alert – it didn’t actually involve protecting the President. From investigations to interrogations, we’ll take a look at some of the other jobs the Secret Service performs today. Ever wonder what would happen if most of the US government was wiped out? Well, the Secret Service plays a role in ensuring the continuity of the government and it involves the secret location of Mount Weather. Of course, all those men and women in suits need a place to hang out and we’ve found it on H Street in Washington D.C. We’ll also show you that the Secret Service isn’t all about taking a bullet either. No, they are prepared to perform all sorts of life-saving procedures on the President to ensure their chances of staying alive between the time of an incident and arrival at the nearest hospital. There’s also the fact that not all agents are human. That’s right, dogs do their part in the secret service and their training is just as rigorous as it is for their two-legged masters. Then there’s the proximity of the Secret Service to the President. As you’ll see, they are always nearby and sometimes it can be a little too close for comfort. Even in the safe confines of the White House, agents are on guard and that includes those stationed in the kitchen. They’re not just there to keep the chefs safe. We’ll show you how agents are forensic experts who can track down a threatening letter just by the type of ink it was written with. Finally, there’s the weaponry and equipment. We all know the Secret Service packs some firepower. However, the types of devices and weapons can be truly mind-boggling as it demonstrates they are ready for nearly any scenario. Robert DeProspero, the SAIC of Reagan's PPD (Presidential Protective Division of the Secret Service) 1982-1985, really knew what he was doing, as exemplified in this rare video from President Reagan's trip to Germany to visit Checkpoint Charlie in the Summer of 1982. Far superior to the inept Kennedy Detail. http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/JFKpalamara.htm http://www.myspace.com/vincepalamara http://www.google.com/profiles/vincepalamara Vincent Palamara was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in Sociology. Although not even born when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Vince brings fresh eyes to an old case. In fact, Vince would go on to study the largely overlooked actions - and inactions - of the United States Secret Service in unprecedented detail, as well as achieving a world's record in the process, having interviewed and corresponded with over seventy former agents (the House Select Committee on Assassinations had the old record of 46 with a 6 million dollar budget and supboena power from Congress), not to mention many surviving family members, White House aides, and even quite a few Parkland and Bethesda medical witnesses for a corresponding project. The result was Survivor's Guilt; The Secret Service & The Failure To Protect The President, a very successful self-published book that sold thousands of copies in the 1990's before becoming a free online e-book in 2006. In addition, the aforementioned corresponding project on the John F. Kennedy assassination medical evidence, JFK: The Medical Evidence Reference, Vince's second book, although almost an afterthought to Vince's main area of research, still sold hundreds of copies and was favorably mentioned in books by William Law, R. Andrew Kiel, James Fetzer, and even Vince Bugliosi. Like his first book, Vince's medical evidence tome became a free online e-book in 2006. All told, Vince has been favorably mentioned in over 50 JFK and Secret Service related books to date (including two whole chapters in Murder in Dealey Plaza, The Secret Service: The Hidden History Of An Enigmatic Agency by Philip Melanson, and the Final Report of the Assassination Records Review Board, among many others), often at length, in the bibliographies, and in the Secret Service - and even medical evidence - areas of these works. Vince has appeared on the History Channel, local cable access television, YouTube, radio, newspapers, print journals, at national conferences, and all over the internet. Also, Vince's original research materials, or copies of said materials, are stored in the National Archives (by request under Deed Of Gift by the ARRB), the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, Harvard University, the Assassination Archives and Research Center, and the Dallas Public Library. Vince Palamara has become known (as he was dubbed by the History Channel in 2003) "the Secret Service expert." As former JFK Secret Service agent Joe Paolella proclaimed: "You seem to know a lot about the Secret Service, maybe even more than I do," while fellow JFK Secret Service agent Chuck Zboril stated: "You might be helpful to the official Secret Service historian who works out of Washington!"

Whether it be protection by the Secret Service or the latest technology, the POTUS has to constantly be monitored. After all, the building is housing the most important government official in the country. The security features of the United States have definitely evolved over the years. The technology used to protect the president is second to none. It uses the defence budget of the United States that is overwhelmingly the biggest in the world. Since it's presidents day, I got the gang back together to play a game of protect the president. The game it somewhat complicated to play, but in a nutshell there is one terrorist against the secret service, and when the terrorist kills an agent, the agent is a terrorist. We did have some problems with people not listening. Andy, but we did relieve those who refused to listen. Over time, the game became more intense because every game there was something new the secret service or terrorist were doing. The last game saw the most intense and longest fire fight. I claimed it as a draw but there's still some disagreements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ●Subscribe to my channel -https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8dM6E-gCo5AkWYqFSkYC4A?sub_confirmation=1 ●Live Streams - http://www.twitch.tv/waryjt ●My Twitter - https://twitter.com/WaryJT ●My Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/waryjt/ ●Yeti Grips - http://yetigrips.tictail.com/ Use promotion code WaryJT to get 25% at Yeti Grips! Secret Service agents refuse to leave Barbara Bush's coffin: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5641735/Secret-Service-agents-refuse-leave-Barbara-Bushs-coffin-protecting-decades.html. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos. The Secret Service agents who protected Barbara Bush for two decades after she left the White House have been standing guard over her coffin, refusing to the leave the side of the woman they say treated them like family. The agents swapped out at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, taking turns on Friday as mourners came in their droves to pay their respects to the former First Lady. They stood in the background as fans greeted former president George H.W. Bush in his wheelchair, giving a final act of protection to the 92-year-old. One former agent said they were proud to stand by her side one final time. 'Agents on her detail, they're the ones posted around her house all of the time. They're the ones who bring her shopping. They're the ones who bring her to events. They are family to her. 'She was one of the most gracious people we've ever protected. 'She went out of her way to make us feel like part of the Bush family. It was just a wonderful relationship we had,' former agent Thom Bolsch told ABC 13. John Lopez, a local reporter who was at the church, said they were 'refusing' to leave.'Barbara Bush's Secret Service detail, several of whom have been been with her for decades, refuse to leave her side until she is buried. Very powerful,' he tweeted. Barbara's code name was 'Tranquility' which Secret Service agents said could not have been more fitting. In a touching tribute to the former First Lady on Friday, written by former agent Jonathan Wackrow for CNN, he said of the name: 'It exemplified her demeanor and its calming, humanizing and gentle effect on those around her. 'She will be forever missed.' Wackrow nostalgically described two heartwarming moments with Barbara which he said inspired him to continue to serve the 'sacred institution' of the First Lady for years to come. The first was when he had just finished an overnight shift at the Bush summer residence in Maine. 'In my world, it was better to be unseen, but in this instant, I was in the former first lady's full view with nowhere to hide. 'Mrs. Bush gave me the warmest smile and said, "Well, it is good morning for me, but it looks like you have been up all night, so I will wish you a good night's sleep." Stunned, I thanked her.'The second was after she had left the White House and during a trip to New Jersey. Once they had exited New York City and were in the Garden State, a large, loud, siren-screaming police escort joined their unassuming motorcade. Wackrow wrote: 'Typically, this was not the way that the former first lady liked to travel, as it drew undue attention. However, in this instance -- with her husband's presidency behind her -- she was thrilled. 'Taking a quick glance in the rear-view mirror, I could see an amazing smile illuminating her face as she turned to her staff in the back seat, exclaiming, "They remember me! We have not had this much excitement since the White House

The work of the “men in black”, also known as the United States Secret Service, is shrouded in mystery and myths. We’re about to lift that veil of secrecy and discover some facts about these special agents. Their secret headquarters, code names they give presidents, their distinct hand position: there’s a lot to find out. The vice-president, the first family, former presidents and their families, and visiting heads of foreign states are also under the protection of the Service. Presidential candidates are also taken care of for 120 days before an election. All agents also undergo a skills development course every 8 weeks to keep them on top of their game. Each president’s route is thoroughly researched so that a hospital is always 10 minutes away. The agents have this time to take emergency measures. Jimmy Carter’s code name was Deacon, Bill Clinton was called Eagle, and Donald Trump’s code name is Mogul. One of the Secret Service’s rules is that the president should never be left alone. Agents have to participate in everything in his life, including his hobbies and visits to the doctor. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS There are more of them than we think. 0:43 They don’t just guard presidents. 1:00 There are 3 service phases. 1:31 They’re trained to throw themselves in front of bullets. 1:53 They’re ready to provide first aid. 2:23 They keep a bag of the president’s blood on them. 2:50 Mount Weather isn’t a myth. 3:20 Presidents have code names. 3:58 There are motion sensors in the floor of the Oval Office. 4:30 They participate in the president’s hobbies. 4:49 They go to the doctor with the president. 5:18 They track all threatening letters. 5:49 They monitor and record everything. 6:37 They don’t take an oath to die for their president. 7:07 There’s only been one agent killed in the line of duty. 7:28 They keep their headquarters a secret. 7:50 The Secret Service was established the day Lincoln was shot. 8:24 The Secret Service wasn’t created to protect the president. 8:48 They don’t always wear sunglasses. 9:14 They make mistakes too. 9:36 Their hands are always ready. 9:55 SUMMARY -There are around 6,500 agents. -Technically, the Secret Service has to protect anyone the President orders them to guard. -Agents first have to work in the office for 3 years. The second phase with challenging tasks lasts for 4-7 years. In the final phase, an agent is promoted to a higher position or returns to office work. -They use bullets specifically made for these training sessions that sting when they hit you and leave a colored mark but don’t actually hurt the agents. -Every agent has basic medical skills and is ready to keep calm in a critical situation. -Top agents always carry bags of the president’s blood so that there’s no risk with donors. -One member of the Cabinet doesn’t attend State of the Union address because he’s hidden in an underground bunker in Mount Weather, Virginia under the protection of the Secret Service. -For example, Barack Obama was Renegade, his wife was Renaissance, and their daughters were Radiance and Rosebud. -Agents can easily trace any movement and any potential threat with the help of sensors in the floor of the Oval Office. -Secret Service agents pick up different hobbies and develop new skills along with the Commander in Chief. -The president can’t be alone with a doctor without an agent as an escort, no matter what the president’s problem is. -The Secret Service checks all electronic and paper letters that contain any threats, even if they’re just a joke. -Agents always use as many cameras and video surveillance as they can. -There is no romantic “swearing” to take a bullet for the president. -There’s only been one case in history when a Secret Service agent died for the President. -The Secret Service headquarters is located in D.C. in a grey nine-story building without any identifying signs in H-street. -President Lincoln approved the idea of Secret Service the day he was shot. -Its original main purpose was to deal with counterfeiters and financial fraud. -The glare or lack of light could cause them to miss something important, so the agents don’t always wear sunglasses. -While Barack Obama was in an elevator with an armed officer, a man with a knife managed to trespass The White House grounds by jumping over a fence. -Their finger position may differ, but the meaning is always the same: the agents are ready to react quickly and draw their weapons. What happens when a president is no longer president? Do they get money? How about secret service protection? Are they even allowed to re-enter politics? Script 1. The former presidents act of 1958 gives all former presidents a pension which as of early 2017 totals 205,700 dollars a year. 2. Former presidents also get a sizable budget to start an office, pay employees, and even travel. This chart shows the amount each former president cost American taxpayers in the 2015 fiscal year. George W. Bush spent the most at a little over 1 million dollars. 3. The numbers in the previous chart do not include the cost of secret service protection that each former president and first lady receive until their death. 4. These figures anger some American taxpayers because most former presidents go on to make millions in book deals and speaking engagements. It is estimated that Bill Clinton has made over 100 million dollars in speeches and book deals since leaving office. 5. Digital Transition… 2017 marks the first time in history a former president will have to transfer the white house social media pages to a new president. For example, @POTUS will be transferred over to Trump on inauguration day, but all of Obama's tweets will be archived on the handle @POTUS44. 6. When addressing former presidents many news sources just use the title president and their last name, however many political scientists argue this is incorrect and disrespectful to the current president. Those critics say you should either use Mr. and their last name or the honorable and their last name (Show visually). 7. Retirement. Former presidents use their newly found free time in very different ways. Jimmy Carter actually won a Nobel peace prize in 2002 for all of his post presidency humanitarian efforts, while George W. Bush took up painting. 8. Return to politics. Most presidents leave politics for good after serving their country but 27th president William Taft became the only president to become chief justice of the supreme court and 6th president John Quincy Adams served in Congress for 18 years after his presidency. 9. Since Reagan left office in the 1980s, it has become tradition to write the former president a letter and leave it in the oval office for them. What do you think Obama's will say to Trump? Positions are available for those who may be willing to be apart of the presidential entourage but you gotta be sure that everything you do is kept secret! In case you didn’t know at least 16 out our 45 presidents have had assassination plots or attempts on their lives or have actually succeeded. That’s over 33 percent . Putting yourself in the line of danger on a daily basis might be too much for some to handle. But first we’d like to give a big shout out to goat white for leaving us this comment! We appreciate you apreciating us and we’re sure you’ll enjoy this video as well 15. Secret Personal Army The presidents won’t often let you know too much about their own personal army or the secret service you can call them. They were established towards the end of the civil war in 1865 by Abraham Lincoln, in order to prevent the distribution of forged currency. In modern times, they are basically special agents who are deployed to protect the first family, former presidents and their families, guarding them like a hawk. Some rumors out there claim they use the most high tech advanced body armor on the market known as Dragon Skin, which isn’t available to the public or even the military. There are more of them than you’d think too. 14. Fire Power As of right now the secret service deploys 3,200 special agents and an additional 1300 uniformed officers some which are uniformed. The president can decide exactly who he wants to deploy secret service protection too. They also get some high tech gear including the Heckler and Koch HK416, FN P90, and some 9mm Sig Pistols. Of course, that’s all the weapons we know about. The FN P90 can pack quite a bit of punch for it’s smaller and portable size and equipped with a stock, it’s much more accurate. It’s produced in belgiu and fires a new cartridge which is more shaped like a bullet fired from a rifle. Hollow Points are also used in order to reduce collateral damage. 13. Cartagena Scandals In 2012 the secret service caught themselves in a little scandalous behavior in Cartagena, Colombia when some disputes took place on payment for intimate services” from the women of the town. This was during a presidential business trip and who knows what else might have happened in colombia if obama’s right hand men are involved. The working girl wasn’t afraid to come forward about the event and many people from the hotel that night remember some rowdy behavior at the hotel Caraibes where they were staying. According to Daria Suarez, the high class one of the secret service members refused to pay up the equivalent of 800 dollars. Mark Sullivan, the now retired, was put on trial before congress. The whole thing was basically swept under the rug. 12. Personal Reassignment Knowing people who are secret service members would probably lead you to believe that you also have access to the kind of security that the president has but that’s not the case! Mark Sullivan, the guy we just mentioned from the caragena shenanigans, sent out secret service members for his female neighbors house after she believed that she was being harassed by someone. Since his neighbor isn’t the president, this makes it a crime to give her that level of personal protection but being the nice guy he is, he sent armed guards anyways. Let’s hope she wasn’t the one being surveilled instead! 11. No Sworn Oath You would assume that the the secret service is sworn to protect the president no matter if his life is in danger. You’d think that he’d probably throw himself in front of the president and take a bullet for him but that’s not the case. It’s understandable that they might put themselves into dangerous situations in order. It’s sorta like the supposed oath the president has to protect the security of americans or for cops to save civilians from life threatening situations. They don’t really have to but they should! 10. Security Lapse In 2014, an Iraqi War veteran, Omar J Gonzales, simply hopped the fence and entered the white house’s front door. He was carrying a small pocket blade and claimed he was just there to tell the president that, I quote,”the atmosphere was collapsing”. He claims that he never wanted to harm the president but trespassing is trespassing. He got 17 months in jail and was supervised for 3 years after his release. He won’t be allowed to possess firearms and was required to a complete psychological evaluation. We’re sure that didn’t involve any torture or anything. We’ll get into some more security lapses later on in the video.

The president, protected by the United States Secret Service as well as the London Metropolitan Police Force, is led by the Special Escort Group (SEG) with their distinctive Honda VFR1200F motorcycles which clear traffic while a lead rider positioned directly in front of a SEG BMW 7-series (heavily armored) leads the spare (decoy) limousine and the primary limo (codename "Stagecoach"). The two dark blue Land Rovers following the Secret Service Suburbans contain London Metropolitan Police Anti-Terrorist Counter Assault Teams. Whether they accept that protection or not, once elected until the day they die (unless they opt out after leaving office), they will be shadowed by an elite team of Secret Service agents. These individuals, while not actually sworn to do so (contrary to popular belief), are generally expected to, if necessary, give their lives to keep the president safe. While in office, this protection extends to a president’s immediate family. But does this ever include their family pet? Technically no. The agency symbolizes the power and importance of our nation’s highest office. Today, its taken for granted that stoic agents wearing suits and earpieces are constantly watching over our Commander-in-Chief, but the President wasn’t always this protected. This is the history of the U.S. Secret Service. During the Revolutionary War, General George Washington ordered a “Lifeguard” be formed to protect him, along with the money and official papers of the Continental Army. This is a passage from historian Ron Chernow’s biography on Washington: “…’To guard against assassination — which I neither expect nor dread — is impossible,’ Washington later wrote. But he knew that kidnapping attempts were always a possibility, especially since he himself would hatch a couple of failed schemes to kidnap British generals. His order to forge a personal guard — or “lifeguard” as it was commonly called — also sprang from a desire to be surrounded by a crack team of disciplined professionals who would accompany him whenever he rode out to review the troops. Protective of his historical reputation, Washington committed the care of his personal papers to this guard. Having such an elite corps at the beck and call of the chief general was a throwback to the glittering world of European armies.” The men assigned to the Commander-In-Chief’s Guard were honored to be trusted to protect their beloved general. For this reason, special care was taken to ensure the soldiers serving in the prestigious unit represented each of the 13 colonies. It was disbanded in 1783 at the conclusion of the war. In 1865, Abraham Lincoln resurrected Washington’s idea, creating an elite outfit of federal law enforcement officials to combat the counterfeiting of American dollars that had been rampant during the Civil War. One-third of all US currency in circulation was reportedly fake, so there was much work to be done to secure the integrity of the nation’s monetary system that powered the entire economy. Ironically, the legislation establishing the Secret Service was awaiting Lincoln’s signature on his desk the night he was assassinated—a strange coincidence, even if the agency wasn’t tasked with protecting the President for another 36 years. Fast-forward to a sweltering September afternoon in 1901. While greeting hundreds of people in a receiving line at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, President William McKinley was shot twice by an assassin who had used a handkerchief to conceal his weapon. McKinley eventually succumbed to his wounds and died eight days later. This finally forced Congress to act, legally mandating the Secret Service to protect the President. In a sign of the frequent obstinance of the US Congress, three Presidents — Lincoln, James A. Garfield, and McKinley — perished by assassins before America’s legislative body did something to address the glaring problem. In 1950, the only secret service agent ever killed while protecting a president died during an assassination attempt on Harry Truman. [Newsreel]: “Outside Blair House — the President’s temporary Washington home — extreme fanatics of the Puerto Rican nationalist party try to force their way in, guns blazing, to assassinate the President of the United States.” The assailants opened fire on agent Leslie Coffelt and other White House Police officers. Despite being mortally wounded, Coffelt returned fire and killed one of the attackers with a single shot. The darkest day in the history of Secret Service came on November 22, 1963 when President John F. Kennedy, riding through downtown Dallas in a convertible, was shot twice and killed. An investigation by the US House of Representatives eventually determined that “the Secret Service did not properly analyze information it possessed prior to the assassination and was inadequately prepared to protect the President.”...

Get your very own copy of Protecting The President from the WND Superstore: http://superstore.wnd.com/Protecting-the-President-An-Inside-Account-of-the-Troubled-Secret-Service-Hardcover Being a Secret Service agent is one of the most treacherous jobs in the world and never more so than in today’s highly polarized America. Facing threats from fence jumpers and manifesto writers, and from fanatical terrorists and sophisticated spies, protecting the president is harder than ever. In an age of hyper-partisan politics, emotions are high and crazies are a dime a dozen. On top of that, with international tensions reaching a boiling point, it’s harder than ever to determine friend from foe. Yet the President of the United States is in very real danger if the Secret Service doesn’t change course soon and evolve with the rapidly changing threat environment. Highly motivated “bad guys” are already working on technologically advanced methodologies and are constantly striving to formulate the logistics of an attack on the White House. Eventually terrorist planners will find a way to acquire the technology, weapons, explosives, and know-how to make an attempt on the life of the President. The only question is “What are we going to do about it?” Protecting the President provides not only a rare insider glimpse of what the Secret Service does, but explores the challenges facing the agents today. Chock-full of relevant stories of protecting past presidents, veteran agent Dan Bongino explains how the agency can best protect the president today. This book covers how the Secret Service should Plan for a tactical assault by a terrorist attack team Prepare to respond to a severe medical emergency Train to handle a chemical or biological weapon attack Prepare for an attack using explosives, and Plan for 9-11 style attacks from the air and fire threats And much more Visit our website: http://www.wnd.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/WNDTV/294590057337142?fref=ts
