After doing some more sightseeing and having lunch, we had an amazing Roman food at a restaurant in Rome called Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino. 00:37 Breakfast at the hotel - To begin the day of sightseeing in Rome, we had breakfast at the hotel, and did the final planning of the day. 2:12 Colosseum - One of the most important and well recognized attractions in Rome is the Colosseum and we arrived pretty early to get in, and I also had pre-purchased my tickets online to attempt to beat the crowds and not have to waste time waiting in line. It worked well, and as soon as the Colosseum opened, we went through security and got in. It was an amazing sight to see, especially because it was so quiet when we arrived. 3:51 Roman Forum and Palatine Hill - Locate in the same area as the Colosseum is the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, and so that’s where we went next. Again, seeing the ancient ruins of Rome was truly spectacular. 5:48 Trattoria Luzzi - I wasn’t quite sure where to eat lunch, and located right around these famous attractions in Rome, there are a lot of expensive, and probably not so good restaurants. We decided to go check out a restaurant called Trattoria Luzzi, just down the road from the Colosseum on the opposite side of the road. I ordered Trippa Alla Romana, a Roman tripe dish and also a pasta of Amatriciana. Overall, the food was good, and it was a friendly little restaurant and the location was good. Total price - 21 EUR ($23.47). 10:31 Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano - After lunch we headed to Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, a huge basilica in Rome. Right across the plaza is Scala Sancta, a small chapel with a 28 step staircase where Jesus is believed to have ascended. 13:25 Gelateria Valentino - I don’t know of anyone that goes to Rome without eating some gelato, and right around the Trevi fountain area of Rome, you’ll find a lot of gelato spots. We tried Gelateria Valentino. Gelato - 3 EUR ($3.35) 14:50 Trevi Fountain - Another one of the most iconic attractions in Rome is the Trevi fountain. We didn’t spend too much time there, but it is pretty cool to see in person. 16:25 Amazing Italian Roman food at Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino Restaurant - For dinner, my wife and I met up with Valentina and Antonio. After walking through the amazing narrow lanes of Rome, we navigated our way to Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino Restaurant, where they had made a reservation for dinner. The restaurant is exactly what you want in a classic Roman Italian food restaurant, a family style restaurant that offers an abundance of Roman dishes. We first started with some types of Roman pasta including cacio e pepe, and carbonara, all of which were incredible - the best pastas I’ve ever had. Then we moved on the an amazing assortment of main Italian food dishes, including veal, lamb, and so many other amazing dishes. It was an Italian food meal like I’ve never had before. Most of the dishes were Roman food style. Thank you Valentina and Antonio for the amazing dinner! Day 14 in Rome was an amazing day of visiting some of the most famous attractions in Rome and eating some incredibly delicious Italian food! As beautiful as Rome is, there will always be people who try to take advantage of us unsuspecting tourists. 1) Unauthentic Italian restaurants They have the red and white Italian table covers, friendly ushers and a wine selection, but they're only targeting tourists. Why do you think? 2) Food karts They also ONLY target tourists. 5 euro water when water is free around rome, 3 euro gum and 7-8 euro tiny gelato that tastes like it was made with sewage water. Not even airports charge this much. Our Story Life is crazy! The tide smashes even the best-laid plans to sand… and so it goes! This is a story about two people, who met by chance, were bound by fate and who continue to let the quirky side of life guide their paths! How else could a young man from a tiny town in Albania and a farm girl from the mountains of Montana meet in the middle, with a life guided by adventure? We met in Rome. Engjell was a waiter in a little Roman restaurant down by Trevi Fountain and I was a student abroad, spending a year in the Eternal City. There are some pretty cheesy movies about the giggly American girl meeting the handsome foreigner abroad, who then spend all their time bombing around ancient ruins on a shiny moped, hair blowing in the wind and smiles from ear to ear. And yet… serendipity delivers! We did fall in love and he did have a moped… In 2006, we moved back to the United States. We returned as a family of three, as little Fiona had been born in Rome at FateBeneFratelli, the hospital on an island… where all the Roman babies have been born for centuries! We moved often, looking for the perfect place. In 2010, we found an opportunity to open our own restaurant in Bigfork, Montana. We spent seven years and thousands of hours bringing the flavors of Italy to rural Montana. We were doing well! We were successful and busy and had finally bought our own home… we had a mortgage and car payments and a full-time, ultra-demanding job! We opened a second restaurant! We even added two more family members with the addition of Hugo and Remy! We were living the dream! Or were we? On the outside, it looked like we had it all… that success had reached out its hand and we had graciously accepted. But in reality, we were working 80-100 hours each per week, we rarely saw our three beautiful kids who knew the nanny better than they did us, and we were burned out… from too much work, from too little time spent together as a family, from life! We had bought into the well-oiled idea of success and were realizing quickly the fatal flaws in our plan. So we decided, together, to give it all up! We took the giant, terrifying, leap and sold it all to travel on a shoestring budget and let life teach us again, teach us anew, of what it looks like to be a successful human being! We are just beginning on this wonderful adventure! We have been traveling the U.S. for a year as a family in a motorhome. We are every day astounded by the diversity and creativity of both humans and Mother Nature. In July, we will set off for a one year trip around the world! This time, too, food and wine lead our adventure. We hope to dig deep into every culture as we go, unearthing culinary tradition everywhere we go! We plan to travel to places where we can stage and work in restaurants and vineyards to learn more and to ultimately be able to take what we have learned and start fresh…inspired, changed… wherever we end up. This trip is about re-defining success! It is about food and wine…about a plate of pasta or a shared bottle of wine, about experiences! It is about family and figuring out how we all fit together and what life’s REAL plan for us is! We invite you to join us in this crazy adventure as we travel the world! Engjell, Kaleigh, Fiona, Hugo and Remy

Europe is NOT as expensive as people make it seem to be!!! I've spent more than 1 year of my life in Europe, visiting every single country on the continent, and I promise you it's not as expensive as you think... Traveling around Europe can EASILY be done on $30/day, as long as you prioritize your expenses. No more excuses! Anyone else agree with me? Watch more How to Visit Rome videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/514456-Top-6-Places-to-Visit-Rome-Travel Planning a trip to Rome? Learn about the top six places to visit and what makes them special in this travel video. Be sure to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain -- it's said that if you throw a coin into this beautiful Baroque structure, you'll be sure to return to Rome someday. There’s something remarkable around every corner in Rome, but there are some sights you should go out of your way to see. You’ll want to dedicate plenty of time to the ruins of ancient Rome. The Roman Forum is a good place to start. Though it’s all ruins now, it was once the heart of Rome. Another masterpiece of the ancient world is the Colosseum, the world’s largest amphitheatre. Inside this massive arena, it’s crazy to imagine the bloody spectacles that were once performed for crowds there. The Pantheon is another ancient Roman icon. Built as a temple and later made into a church, the Pantheon is still considered an architectural wonder. Vatican City is also home to a wealth of beautiful architecture. St Peter’s Basilica is the largest church in the world, as well as one of the most beautiful. But the Sistine Chapel rivals its grandeur. The paintings by Michelangelo on the ceiling are widely considered the greatest pieces of art created in the Renaissance. Before you leave Rome, be sure to pay a visit to the Trevi Fountain. It’s said that if you throw a coin into this huge Baroque fountain, you’ll be able to return to Rome someday. And you’re sure to want to come back to a city like Rome, where you’ll never run out of things to see.

In Summer 2015 we explored some of Italy's most popular cities by train, which was a lot of fun! Italy has an extremely great train network with modern high-speed trains that take you quickly from one city to another. With a monthly ticket from Interrail we had plenty of time to travel across the country. We also traveled along the Southern Part, Pls also check our other video about the Amalfi and Cilento Coast: https://youtu.be/mWxBnbZufc0 A big thanks to Interrail, Walks Of Italy and Airbnb who made this trip possible. We're here at the Pantheon. Welcome to another video in our how-to series. Today, I'm going to show you the best things to do in Rome without crowds. There's loads of free things to do if you’re trying to stick to a budget on your trip to Rome including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and the Campo de Fiori neighborhood. Let's go. We're in the Campo de' Fiori market, one of the oldest and probably the best outdoor market in Rome. It's buzzing. There's a lot of people around here. It’s about 11:30 or 12:00, but the best time to come here is as early as possible. In the morning you're going to find the best selection, the best bread, best cheeses, best fruits and vegetable and meats. It's your perfect picnic for the day. I'm going to get myself some cheese. The beautiful Trevi Fountain is probably the most famous fountain in the world and you can just see that from here. It's around lunchtime right now and you should definitely not be here at this time of the day. Come here either early in the morning or later in the night when the fountain is illuminated. I know, we're trying to show you around without crowds, but if there is one place you'd want to see with all the people around, it's this, Piazza Navona, one of the most beautiful piazzas in Rome. It's actually built on top of a first-century ancient Roman chariot racing stadium. Still today, this is the place where you're going to see lots of people all the time, but especially in the evening time is where you see street performers, singers, dancers and fire-breathers. This is where you're going to find locals and visitors alike. Come here to soak up the culture of Rome at its finest. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. One of my favorite escapes in the Piazza Navona area is right here, Chiostro del Bramante. It's a beautiful old cloister with an amazing gallery next door. Up here, a beautiful café, where you can sit down and enjoy some quiet time. Gaze at the rooftops and have an amazing coffee or a some spirits in a 16th-century cloister. Delish! We're here at the Spanish Steps, one of the best attractions in Rome. For nearly 300 years, the steps have attracted the attention of Romans and visitors alike. It also is one of the most popular and most crowded sites in all of the city, so unless show up very early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The best time to be here is right about now, just before the sunset when you can sit in the center of the steps and catch the sun go down just above Via dei Condotti, one of the most expensive streets in all of Rome. See Rome without the crowds but remember to wear sunscreen! Rome, capital of Italy, one of the most visited places in all of Europe. It's going to be busy, especially in the high season, but as you have seen there's always a way to avoid crowds. I hope, this video has been of help. Until next time, check out for more Roman Guy YouTube videos. We'll see you here!
