Nearly every manufacturer has a full range of women's specific road bikes now, so, if you're looking for a new bike, you might be left thinking that a women's specific road bike is the only option for women. Well, you'd be wrong. Although the component choices also differ and are also intended to be better suited to women, what's essential is choosing a bike that fits YOU. This might mean getting a women's road bike, getting a men's road, or getting a men's bike and switching over a few of the components like the saddle and the handlebars. Got cycling questions? Thanks to Canyon for the products used in this video. All views are the presenters own. Let us know in the comments 👇 Ex-Professional Cyclist and Olympian Lucy Martin knows a thing or two about cycling and she visited the Canyon HQ in Koblenz, Germany to learn all about their women's bikes. There is no doubt about it, men and women are different. Canyon took a huge data set and ran an analysis of this data to come to a conclusion. The frame geometry came from this research and one of the results is that the torso and arm angle remains the same across all sizes in the range. Smaller wheel sizes have been introduced to the range too, the 3XS & 2XS frame sizes feature 650b sized wheels. This allows a smaller cyclist to have better and more precise steering and handling of the bike. Frames have also had weight shaved off them by up to 50g whilst retaining the same stiffness to weight ratio, how? by using smaller diameter tubes, also improving aerodynamics! We've been crunching the numbers and it's now time for the most successful bikes of the 2018 Women's World Tour. Are there any surprises in there for you? Subscribe: http://gcntech.co/subscribetogcntech The GCN Shop: https://gcntech.co/9E GCN Tech Uploader: http://gcntech.co/upload This wasn’t a standout year for Canyon, with Kazia Niewiadoma taking their only World Tour win. But it was a pretty great win. Niewiadoma attacked from a super select group with 8km left to race, soloing to victory in some truly grim conditions. The Canyon//SRAM team will be hoping that they can have a better season next year, building off their stunning win at the world championships team time trial. It’s worth a pause at this point, because although we’ve got a top 10 most successful bikes, the top two are really in a different league, such was the dominance of two squads (and arguably two riders) in this year’s women’s world tour. The two bikes at the top of our list have actually won more world tour races than the rest of the list put together! Boasting both Olympic gold and world titles, the AIR range is what can only be described as Boardman’s racing machine. Having taken five years of meticulous refining and tweaking to deliver, Boardman says the AIR frameset is now more efficient and aero than ever before — perfect for either rolling road racing, fast-paced crits or even flat-out time trials. The high-performance Boardman AIR Women’s package is made using C10 carbon, Boardman’s own high modulus carbon which has high stiffness to weight ratios. This, along with proprietary tubing profiles, designed to cut through wind and reduce drag at a wide degree of yaw (the angle of drag forces on a rider), and hidden front and rear TRP brakes, all deliver optimal aerodynamics. However, Boardman knows that slipperiness alone doesn’t create a fast bike, and that rider comfort and bike handling are just as important, so the AIR Women’s bike comes with a four-position seatpost, which allows you to adjust between a 73° and 75° seat tube angle, enabling you to get the most comfortable fit for you. A tapered full carbon fork increases front-end stiffness and steering precision, while a one-piece chainstay and pressfit 30 bottom bracket provide a wide and super-stiff rear end, transferring every pedal revolution into forward propulsion. With the Boardman AIR Women’s frameset and Shimano Dura-Ace 9000/FSA SLK drivetrain mirroring the standard Boardman AIR 9.2, it’s the contact points that have been dialled for a women-specific fit, coming with a women’s Prologo saddle, 90cm stem, narrow 380mm bars and 165 cranks. It’s worth noting that a smaller XS is also available, with a conventional top tube length of 50cm to fit riders between 155cm and 167cm in height. The AIR is an aero race bike ready to take on whatever road discipline you throw at it. Price: £2,999.99 Frame: Boardman AIR C10 Carbon Fork: Boardman T8 Carbon tapered steerer Size range: XS-LG Weight: 8.53kg Groupset: FSA SLK chainset/Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 shifters Gear ratios: 52/36, 12-25 (11-speed) Wheels: Boardman AIR Elite Five Tyres: Vittoria Rubino Pro (25c) Brakes: TRP Integrated (TKB55) (T714R) Bar: Boardman Elite Alloy Stem: Boardman Elite Alloy Seatpost: Boardman Elite AIR Carbon Saddle: Prologo NagoEvo 141 Distributor: www.boardmanbikes.com Read more at http://www.cyclingweekly.com/videos/cycling-tech/boardman-air-womens#t5h4uitdsiicLTj3.99 More at: Cycling Weekly: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CyclingWeekly Instagram: https://instagram.com/cyclingweeklymagazine Google+: https://plus.google.com/103552890268543091591/posts Twitter: http://twitter.com/cyclingweekly

Designed for carrying the pros over the rough pavé of the Spring Classics, there’s no denying the Domane’s ability to be equally at home on smooth tarmac and rough terrain. Brand new for 2018, the Domane SL 5 Women’s bike is made from Trek’s patented 500 Series OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void). The frameset manages to be lightweight, strong and stiff, while built-in compliance helps keep the rider comfortable on even the longest of adventures. Developed in partnership with Fabian Cancellara, the IsoSpeed decouplers are at the core of the Domane SL 5 Women’s endurance comfort technology. Located at the front and rear, the decouplers significantly increase the compliance of the bike, isolating the rider from road vibration without impacting on performance. Teaming this with Trek’s endurance geometry delivers stable and predictable handling thanks to a long wheelbase, short reach and tall handlebar stack height. The Domane SL 5 is available with either direct-mount rim brakes or discs. The rim option creates an overall lightweight package and can accommodate up to 28c tyres, while the discs provide superb braking in poor weather and can accommodate up to 32c tyres. Both set-ups are compatible with mudgards, an easy addition thanks to the hidden mudguard mounts. The Shimano 105 complete Domane SL 5 Women’s comes with a 50/34 chainset and 11-32 11-speed cassette, so is ideal for heading to the hills or going full gas on the flats. The rest of the bike is kitted out with Trek’s well-respected sister brand Bontrager and is even compatible with the Blendr stem — the integration system for easy installation of lights, computers, etc. All in all it’s an impressive package, and excitingly versatile too. Whether you have been riding for years and want a quick commuter, or you are just getting started and want a comfortable safe bike then the Quick might just be for you. From entry level alloy hybrid bikes to carbon framed flat bar road bikes, we review the whole Cannondale Quick range here. There are 18 models to choose from, with a wide range of components options as well as different frame and fork options. The spec levels of the Quick range are indicated by numbers, with the Quick 8 being the most affordable. The Quick Women’s bikes mirror the unisex range with similar frame, fork and component specs. Designed to offer a fast, efficient and comfortable ride around town the Cannondale Quick combines road bike speed with a comfortable upright riding position. This is ideal for urban cycling as it gives you better visibility than a drop bar road bike, while still being faster and more efficient than a mountain bike. Lightweight, comfortable and safe the Cannondale Quick is ideal for all types of urban road cycling, from fitness training and commuting to fun rides around the city. Comfort is enhanced with ergonomic grips and Cannondale Fitness saddles. The Quick Women’s models feature ladies’ specific saddles for a comfortable ride. The added safety features like reflective frame graphics and reflective tyre side walls are a real plus point for the Cannondale Quick. This really cements its place as one of the go-to urban bikes for riders that appreciate speed, comfort and efficiency. If you riding ambitions stretch to rougher gravel tracks then have a look at the Cannondale Quick CX, a hybrid bike for all terrains.

Road bikes specifically made for ladies haven't always been available, but in recent years Giant has recognized the increasing numbers of women taking up road riding and have introduced a range of road bikes specifically built with the generally smaller frame of women in mind. Many women are able to have a men's bike adapted to suit them, but with the Giant women's range now available, such adaptations are no longer necessary. I was shopping for a women's road bike for a friend of mine, and found this vintage Terry Prism on Craigslist for $65. The rear wheel is a 700c, and the front wheel is a smaller 24" wheel. The frame is about 46cm, so I think it will fit my friend who is about 5'1". This was made as a sports bike. But someone swapped the drop bars for riser hybrid type bars. I think the rear derailleur has been changed out too. I am pretty sure it would have had a a Shimano, probably Exage 300EX. Maybe to accommodate a larger freewheel. I plan to convert it back to drop bars, and update it with brifters, and maybe update the drivetrain. It will be a total teardown a rebuild. Fun stuff! Terry Bicycles was founded by Georgena Terry to design and build bikes made to fit women. Here is a great video where Georgena Terry explains the design of the bike and why there is a smaller front wheel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD7rq568Nvw (watch part 2 also) 👍If the video was useful or interesting please give it a "thumbs up" and consider subscribing at http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy ▶SUBSCRIBE! http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 🔔 TURN ON THE NOTIFICATIONS🔔 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

My friend wanted a small size women's road bike. I hunted around and found this vintage Terry Prism road bicycle for her. It had been converted to hybrid type bars as well as other changes. I stripped it to the bare frame, cleaned/overhauled everything, and put it back together converting it back to drop bars, and updating it to brifters (integrated brake/shift levers). The restoration took nearly a week, but would have gone much faster if I hadn't been shooting video. Also I was mostly working in the evenings. This style of bike with a smaller front wheel is called a "proportional bike". Terry Bicycles is a company started by Georgena Terry to design and build bikes for women. If you wondering why the smaller front wheel, watch this video (and part 2): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD7rq568Nvw 👍If the video was useful or interesting please give it a "thumbs up" and consider subscribing at http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy ▶SUBSCRIBE! http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 🔔 TURN ON THE NOTIFICATIONS🔔 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

In my continuing effort at helping out other Dads/Husbands out there, I put together a 4K Video assembly guide for the Susan G. Komen 700C Courage Woman's Road Bike. Honestly this comes packaged very nicely with most of it assembled which is unusual but a pleasant surprise and took less than 30 minutes to put together. If, however, it came without a manual this guide should be enough to help you put it together just fine. Incidentally, this bike is a great deal for $100 bucks (depending on where you buy it I guess) and helps a good cause as $10 is donated to help fund breast cancer awareness and research for each bike sold. This 4K guide will also help those assembling any SGK Hybrid bicycle or Kent Bike (which is the same thing).

Frame & Fork - 0:20 Future Shock - 1:09 Groupset - 1:38 Wheels - 2:34 Best For - 3:09 https://www.tredz.co.uk/reviews/specialized-diverge-range Taking on the paved roads and gravel roads alike, the Specialized Diverge is a comfortable and versatile adventure road bike. Unisex and women’s models are available, as well as a much sought-after S-Works model. The Diverge sits between the Crux cyclocross bike and the Roubaix endurance road bike, with slack angles and lightweight, robust parts, yet is capable of taking on challenging terrain off road. It would also make for a quick and easy living commuter. Alloy and carbon frames matched to 700c road wheels, the Diverge has comfortable and relaxed geometry, perfect for long days on the saddle. It has drop handlebars and a lightweight setup, similar to typical road bikes, but wider tyres and wide gearing means that it can take on a greater array of terrain with more comfort. The Future Shock offers even more compliance and comfort, while maintaining efficiency. The Specialized Diverge is aimed at riders who want the efficiency of a road bike, without the compromises of a hard ride and being limited to riding on paved surfaces. The mounts for front and rear racks make long distance touring a cinch, and the easy Plug and Play fender mounts allow for easy everyday convenience for commuters, keeping you clean. The versatility of the extra tyre clearance means that you can customise the Diverge for many scenarios, and can be your do it all bike. Light trails riding is even on the cards, especially with the Future Shock taking the edge off rough terrain. From any entry into the Diverge range, you’ll be sure to find a bike capable of long days of comfortable riding, while keeping the fun factor high. http://www.tredz.co.uk Facebook: https://goo.gl/34lybY Twitter: https://goo.gl/CdJcxD Instagram: https://goo.gl/yk9I0l

Brought to you by Ivanhoe Cycles. Hybrid bikes, are also often known as Urban bikes or City bikes. Hybrid bikes are often used as a commuter bike, ideal for urban or city riding where some poorer road surfaces may be encountered. A Hybrid bike is essentially a cross between a Mountain bike and a Road bike, featuring the positive points of both styles. A Hybrid bike has 700c wheels, just like a racer, meaning the bike has good rolling capabilities and is able to reach and maintain a reasonable speed on longer rides. But a Hybrid is fitted with a fatter tyre than a racer which makes a Hybrid bike ideal for riding on a variety of surfaces such as bike paths, trails and country roads and are also great for their load carrying capacity when touring with loaded panniers etc. Hybrid bikes have an even more upright seating position than a Mountain bike, which many people find more comfortable as they sit in this more relaxed position with improved visibility to p eruse the surroundings a little easier, whether it be vehicle traffic or flora and fauna. A Hybrid is a bike that is ridden for pleasure, and are ideal for recreational riders who want one bike to carry them over a wide variety of road surfaces. read more here http://www.ivanhoecycles.com.au//bikes/hybrid/cat_18.php

However, there is actually a really good reason to have a horizontal crossbar on a bike; namely, the horizontal crossbar ends up adding quite a bit of strength to the frame of the bike. This was particularly important in some of the early bikes, which were often made of significantly weaker materials than modern day frames, occasionally even being made of wood. Find out more on our official website (http://www.baku2015.com), follow us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/BakuGames2015) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/baku2015). As cyclists began to stray from paved surfaces and venture into rough terrain, they began to outfit their bicycles with wide tires, rapid-shift gears and innovative suspension components. Cross-country Mountain Bike races became increasingly popular as more people took up the sport, with the first world championships taking place in 1990. It’s been a popular fixture on the Olympic sport programme since its first appearance at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. At Baku 2015, both the men’s and women’s medal events will take place on 13 June 2015, with 46 men and 31 women taking to the challenging course at the Mountain Bike Velopark. During the final lap, the first rider to cross the finish line wins the race. The Mountain Bike Velopark is located in the hills immediately south of the Baku Shooting Centre. It will be the first ever purpose-built Mountain Bike course in Azerbaijan. The venue will have capacity for 500 spectators.

The Roadmaster Granite Peak Women's Mountain Bike is a bike available on the shelves at most Walmart stores. The retail price is only $89, but the bike is often on sale. I recently purchased it on a flash sale for only $59. Last year I reviewed the Men's Roadmaster Granite Peak and had to return the bike because it had multiple bad welds. How will this women's version of the same MTB stack up? The bike is a 'Mountain-style bicycle' meaning it isn't a real mountain bike. That's evident and very common for most 'big box' mountain bikes. The Granite peak has narrow street friendly handlebars, TD-One twist shifters, an 18 speed 3x6 drivetrain, and 26" wheels with knobby tires. I purchased this bicycle as a Christmas present for my sister. She loved it and has been riding it daily. She hasn't ridden a bicycle in 20 years, so it is great to see her back on a bike. It is also a great benchmark for how buying a Walmart bike will affect a new rider. Will it get them entrenched in cycling, or will it cause them to leave the sport in disgust? We'll find out as I'll be tracking her progress and how the bike holds up. Stay tuned for updates on this and for other new bike reviews. Thanks for watching KevCentral.
