Have you ever been the only guy at a yoga class? Your body’s probably different, which means you need a different workout to match it. One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that you shouldn’t do yoga if you’re inflexible. That’s like saying you shouldn’t lift weights if you’re not strong - you do yoga to BECOME more flexible, not because you already are. Then why are so many yoga workouts impossible to do if you’re inflexible? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. This is a good way to reach new people It’s a way for existing subscribers to convince their friends / skeptics to do it This beginner-friendly yoga routine to improve flexibility uses modifications for guys aren’t flexible. Improve your flexibility in just 10 minutes per day. Use this routine as often as you’d like. I recommend doing this as a standalone stretching routine in the morning or evening, or as a cooldown for your other workouts. You can expect noticeable improvements in just a couple of weeks! What if I told you that 99.9% of all running injuries were preventable? Maybe you already knew that. Okay – what if I told you that all running injuries were preventable with just a few minutes of exercise per day? Would you believe me? Obviously, being injured sucks. It means you can’t run. So you wait a few weeks or a couple of months, and once your injury heals and you get back to running again. Only now you try even harder, because you’re making up for lost time. Soon enough that injury starts flaring up again, or maybe another part of your body starts to get angry. So what’s going on here? The problem is you’re not addressing the root causes of your body’s problems. They might go away if you keep your running shoes off long enough, but as soon as you lace up and get back to the trail those issues will resurface. You need to go to the direct source. You need to: Address your muscular imbalances with the right strengthening exercises Reduce muscle tightness by improving your mobility and taking time to stretch Prevent overtraining by incorporating more restorative work in your routine, adding variety with lower-impact fitness modalities, and using the proper cool-down and warm-up exercises You might not realize this, but everything I’ve just mentioned is solvable with the right yoga postures. Notice that I say the right yoga postures. You can’t just show up to a studio once per week and expect all of your running problems to go away. You need a workout that’s specifically geared toward runners. That’s what I want to show you. This Quick Workout is great for building Strength, Balance and Mobility. If you live in a big city it probably feels like there’s a yoga studio on every street corner. Even though many of those pants never make it into the inside of a yoga studio, I’m going to show you some reasons why they should and why yoga is so beneficial to the body. This week on The Health Nerd, you’re going to learn how just a few minutes of yoga every week, will make you more mentality alert, happier, and healthier. First, let’s talk about the science. There are a shocking amount of studies that show the health benefits of yoga for men, for women, and everyone in between. If you think it’s something only for the naturally flexible or for hippies, think again. Here are some of the best benefits of starting a regular yoga practice. #1. Researchers from the University of Washington found that a regular yoga practice helps one Fight sugar cravings. Improve breathing. And help with emotional awareness. They found that yoga gave people a sense of “mindful eating” in which they were consciously aware of the impact the food they ate made on their body. This gave the practioners better control over their eating habits and eating decision. #2. Oxyford University found that people who practice yoga only once a week Slept better. Had lower blood pressure. And were overall less stressed than their non-yoga counterparts. This lowering of cortisol and stress levels led people to be in a more relaxed and happy state of mind. It also helped them manage stressful situations better and not totally freak out. #3. There’s even significant evidence behind how yoga can help people lose weight.
