The existential threat of nuclear war is no longer a Cold War memory. With nine countries armed with around 15,000 atomic bombs up to 53 times stronger than those dropped in the Second World War, the stakes are arguably higher.
Ahead of the International Day against Nuclear Tests on August 29, we met up British atomic veterans who were present at test sites in Australia and the Pacific, to find out what it’s like to experience a nuclear bomb explosion up close.
While most people know about the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, fewer are aware that an additional 2,000 atomic bombs were detonated after World War II and tested on hundreds of thousands of young soldiers to prepare them for nuclear war.

A saying that I will always remember came from a Holocaust survivor who came to speak at my middle school, and he said "We cannot embrace each other with nuclear arms." I remember thinking of how profound that wordplay was, and it has yet to become irrelevant. I think about that a lot.
I'm really glad I watched this! I work in the medical field and I can't recall any classes for radiation sickness or what a human being experiences during a nuclear blast. I've watched documentary interviews of locals in the Polygon and Japan and on a basic level the stories are essentially the same, but everyone experiences/articulates it differently.
Not only on humans, but imagine what it also did to the atmosphere and surroundings. And now we see what our planet looks like around us today.I imagine there must be a lot of big craters in the ground.Wait a minute , didn't our rotation lose our magnetic North , recently?
+The Big Game Theory Okay, that doesnt mean that they werent hit by them, as your original comment implied. I think it was more likely that it was the light that allowed them to see their bones, but it is still possible, no, certain that they were hit by x rays.
+The Big Game Theory no duh, all i was saying is that it is possible that they were hit by a weak x ray, which allowed them to see there bones but not kill them. Just because they werent burned to a crisp doesnt mean they werent hit by a weak x ray.
Instead of war, the 2 Presidents/ leaders of the countries should have a boxing match and shake hands at the end of the fight, regardless of the winner.
War is finished in 36 mins ( if they go 12 rounds) and nobody dies.
I think perhaps USA lost more people than Japan because of nuclear testing. They polluted their land and sea more than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Old time people rightly says who want to rule by sword they dies by sword. Please ban nuclear weapons, chemical etc weapons world wide. That's insane. We can short out problems even with our wars by discuss, adjust and adjusting with each other.
Lol. Everyone got a dose of radiation from the nuclear bombs tested. To this day, every human being around the world, has some amount of Strontium 90 in their bones and or teeth. This Strontium 90 came from the nukes tested by many nations. The most recent of wich, North Korea. Don't be scared, and learn to love the bomb. It's a part of each and every one of us.
One must also objectively realise that the very existence of such weapons has prevented potentially catastrophic direct conflicts between nations for decades. Take India and Pakistan for example. Despite the sheer mutual animosity, open conflict has been limited since they both developed nuclear weapons, mainly because both countries know that all out war would lead to nuclear weapons being used, and once the nuclear option is triggered, it would kickstart a death cycle throughout the world. Same goes for Western powers. This is why nuclear testing is limited now, and nuclear power is primarily used as a deterrent.
The scary surreal thing is, nukes today are 50 to 100 times more powerful than the ones they experienced. If we are stupid enough to do this again, maybe humanity deserves its own destruction....
Good morning! Vault-Tec calling! You see, Vault-Tec is the foremost builder of state of the art underground Fallout shelters. Vaults, if you will. Luxury accommodations, where you can wait out the horrors of nuclear devastation!
Isn't it clear by now that governments don't have our interest at heart? Isn't it blindingly obvious that we are interchangable machines to them, or perhaps farm animals. Fuck them for doing this to these boys.
Most of the videos I’ve watched they mention men being so afraid they call out for their mothers. It is just intriguing that some of us have a natural instinct to seek protection from our mothers, the ones that cares for us when we were young.
When the strong and wise rule, the people prosper, when the weak and ignorant rule, they compensate their weakness with violence. Ghandi used his wisdom to rule his people, and when someone saw they lost control they shot him, using violence, which only made Ghandi's teachings more apparent. The weak and ignorant inherited the strength and wisdom of their forefathers, and as such never had to learn and endure as they did. Laziness, greed, and the overwhelming feeling of never amounting to anything but, The child of Greatness rather than Greatness itself.
Don't spoil those who haven't earned it, or they will abuse everything you give them without sympathy. People like Ghandi, Martin Luther, Martin Luther King Jr, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, etcetera. Were not influential because they spread hate, but because they showed compassion, love of morality, and interest in people's collectiveness to reach a goal for the betterment of all man kind, not just their own. It's hard to love yourself, but it's even harder to see past yourself and take on what others are to afraid too do themselves, regardless on what you fear or love. They earned what they got because they worked for it, not because they were handed it.
If you believe in something don't just believe, make it a reality. Don't hide behind weapons, blame others for your mistakes, blame others for something you could fix. If there's a problem, fix it, only the weak and arrogant shift the problem to someone else. Sadly in today's world, most of our leaders are weak and arrogant, never had to earn their way to victory, instead were given money so they could feel victory, but they know they are empty souls trapped within the confines of self pity, ignorance, and the overwhelming feeling of uncertainty. They may win their ways through speeches that other people wrote, but their facade waves thin, and their guilt lays with them as they die, no matter how many times they convince themselves they are in the right.
I was on a horse in about 1958. I survived the above ground Atomic bomb because my horse threw me in a 20 foot gulley. I was 8yrs old , I’m sterile and have thyroid gland damage.
I saw the flash, the wind came, I hid under my horses belly as the ash covered everything!
When I started back to the barn on this federal land my grandfather leased, I saw an eagle crash with its eyes burned out, I passed 500 head of Shorties sheep all dead!
My grandfather had to go shoot my horse because of Radiation illness! This was near Dragerton Utah- now buried by a nuclear waste burial dump!!!
The Federal Government took away my choice to have children! No help from anybody🇺🇸

James- What the hell does surviving an atomic blast have to do with being black? I guess you just needed to attack and comment on something! I’m not prejudice so take a hike!
That Trump footage at the start is the most frightening thing I've seen today.
I live in South America, governed by a disgusting excuse of a human being employed by that other orange human, and I know that this could be one of those sick, sad, twisted jokes that the universe sometimes plays, and we'll all die, or suffer horribly and then die, from it.
"Wanna know how the world ended? Two hairless apes with control over the ones who can control the atom had an argument with each other..."
Learning how to draw cartoon animals from the farm is not such a difficult task! Weve grown up surrounded by them! Farm animals are everywhere: In blockbuster movies, childs books, greeting cards. their shapes and images are printed in our minds!
In this section, I will show you how to determine what are the physical uniqueness of each animal and how to work with them. Then, you can practice drawing each cartoon character using basic shapes.
You will have the opportunity to make nice illustrations, practice sketching and cartooning using short easy lessons and complete your creation using a drawing software to create vector art if you want to! Cartoon drawing is really fun once you get into it!
Dont be afraid to try until you get it right. This method is really simple, but requires practice and observation. So, sit back and relax. Learn how to draw animals from the farm and start your journey on a good note!
Lets try s few basic characters to get started! :)
A cute turkey to begin with.
In this first tutorial, you can learn how to draw a fun turkey mostly made from small rectangles and large circular shapes. The posture of the character is really interesting. Not only is it easier to draw than a front version, but its also easier to add some perspective (as we can see with the legs). The fact that we just need to draw one wing is also interesting.
Most of these cartoon animals are not filled with complex textures or digital effects. In this case, the subject is filled with plain colors and only a few basic details (inside the tail) were added.
A nice turtle also from a side view.
